The Qianhai development is part of the Chinese mainland's national strategy to transform a 15-square-kilometre area in Shenzhen into a modern services centre by 2020. The pilot zone will focus on developing such sectors as finance, modern logistics, information services and technology and professional services. It's also expected to serve as a test ground for a fully convertible yuan. In March 2013, a Hong Kong business delegation got a rare glimpse of the new pilot zone now under construction in a mission organised by the HKTDC and InterCham.
