All The President's Men - Your Lives Are In Danger

04:06
A film classic based on Washington Post reporters Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward's best-selling novel, "All The President's Men". A true story about the infamous Watergate break-in / scandal in which most of the Nixon administration were later found guilty of corruption and attempting to sabotage the Democratic National Committee during the United States presidential election campaign of 1972. Dustin Hoffman and Robert Redford effectively portray reporters, turned investigative journalists, Bernstein and Woodward (respectively) with arresting impact. The film's cerebral and haunting soundtrack was composed by David Shire. It strongly adds to the atmosphere of mystery throughout this superb political thriller, surrounding the viewer with curiosities that are concealed in shadows down the spindly damp trails of goverment espionage and covert operations while at the same time being hunted down by two determined and committed newspaper reporters, who eventually mature into Pulitzer Prize winning investigative journalists. This 1976 film was nominated for 8 Academy Awards. It received 4. Best Art Direction - George Gaines; George Jenkins (For the replication of The Washington Post's main newsroom and offices.) Best Screenplay (Adapted) - William Goldman Best Sound - Dick Alexander; Les Fresholtz; Arthur Piantadosi; James E. Webb Best Supporting Actor - Jason Robards {Ben Bradlee}

All the President's Men - Money - Available November 12

01:04
All the President's Men is available on Blu-ray 11/12/13 at the WB Shop http://bit.ly/ATPMWBShop In the Watergate Building, lights go on and four burglars are caught in the act. That night triggered revelations that drive a U.S. President from office. Washington reporters Bob Woodward (Robert Redford) and Carl Bernstein (Dustin Hoffman) grabbed the story and stayed with it through doubts, denials and discouragement. All the President's Men is their story. Directed by Alan J. Pakula and based on the Woodward/Bernstein book, the film won four 1976 Academy Awards (Best Supporting Actor/Jason Robards, Adaptation Screenplay/William Goldman, Art Direction and Sound). It also explores a working newspaper, where the mission is to get the story -- and get it right. FILM DESCRIPTION: Conspiracy film specialist Alan J. Pakula turned journalists Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein's best-selling account of their Watergate investigation into one of the hit films of Bicentennial year 1976. While researching a story about a botched 1972 burglary of Democratic Party headquarters at the Watergate apartment complex, green Washington Post reporters/rivals Woodward (Robert Redford, who also exec produced) and Bernstein (Dustin Hoffman) stumble on a possible connection between the burglars and a White House staffer. With the circumspect approval of executive editor Ben Bradlee (Jason Robards), the pair digs deeper. Aided by a guilt-ridden turncoat bookkeeper (Jane Alexander) and the vital if cryptic guidance of Woodward's mystery source, Deep Throat (Hal Holbrook), Woodward and Bernstein "follow the money" all the way to the top of the Nixon administration. Despite Deep Throat's warnings that their lives are in danger, and the reluctance of older Post editors, Woodward and Bernstein are determined to get out the story of the crime and its presidential cover-up. Once Bradlee is convinced, the final teletype impassively taps out the historically explosive results. CREDITS: TM & © Warner Bros. All the President's Men|Deep Throat: The Outer Edges

03:52
This is one of my all-time favorite films. In this scene, Bob Woodward (Robert Redford) presses Deep Throat for answers to the June 17, 1972 Watergate break-in. Deep Throat then goes on to expose a vast conspiracy ranging from CIA to FBI to the Justice Department all the way up to the highest levels of the White House including President Richard Nixon. Bob then goes to Carl Bernstein's (Dustin Hoffman) apartment to explain that his place is bugged and their lives are in danger for knowing too much and getting too close to publicly exposing the conspiracy.
