Azerbaijan on the map resembles a bird that flies from the east with wide open wings. Baku, the capital looking to the Caspian, is a rapidly developing industrial city. This ancient country, once an important stop on the Great Silk Road, has many exciting places - the Bronze Age petroglyphs, medieval minarets and mosques and the famous Azerbaijani carpets. About a third of the population of Azerbaijan lives in the capital, the largest metropolis of the South Caucasus. This beautiful city is located around the ideal bay, the Baku Gulf in the lower part of the Absheron Peninsula. Baku and the 70-kilometer peninsula enjoy sunny and surprisingly dry weather. Azerbaijan is still a Klondike of "black gold". So they call not only oil, but also black caviar. Its extraction is now strictly controlled and limited by state quotas. The best caviar in the world is the caviar of the Caspian Sea. Russia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan border the Caspian Sea, which is the largest lake in the world. The surface of the Caspian Sea is 374,000 square kilometers. km. One of its advantages is the prevalence of 80-90% of sturgeon in it. From sturgeon get caviar, which is a "symbol of luxury". Sturgeon is in fact a prehistoric species of the animal world, surviving to this day since the time of the existence of dinosaurs.

The city, which has an Iranian-European urban structure, lies on the northern slope of the Alborz mountains. Its culture and climatic favorable condition have made Lahijan a major tourist hub in northern Iran. The city is basically founded on the sediments remaining from big rivers in Gilan, including the Sefid-Rud (White River). Historically, the city was the major business center and the capital of East Gilan during the time of special rulers. The history of tea culture in Iran started at the end of the 15th century. Before that coffee was the main beverage in Iran. However, most of the coffee producing countries were located far from Iran, making shipping very difficult. With a major tea producing country, China, located on a nearby trading path, "the silk road", and the shipping of tea was much easier. That was a main reason why tea became much popular in Iran. As a result, the demand for tea grew, and more tea needed to be imported to match Iran's consumption. Iran failed in their first attempt to cultivate tea in their own country in 1882 with seeds from India. In 1899 Prince Mohammad Mirza known as "Kashef Al Saltaneh" who was born in Lahijan, imported Indian tea and started its cultivation in Lahijan. Kashef, who was the first mayor of Tehran and an Iranian ambassador to India under British rule, knew that the British would not allow him to learn about the secrets of tea production, as it was their biggest business in India at the time. So being fluent in French, the prince pretended to be a French laborer and started to work in the tea plantations and factories to learn how to produce tea. Ultimately his plan was to take back some samples of this tea to Iran to cultivate. He was successful in this endeavor only because of his diplomatic immunity which stopped the British from searching his secretly stashed sample. At the time, Kashef brought 3000 saplings into his country from the Northern part of India, Kangra. He started the cultivation in the region Gilan, south of the Caspian Sea. The climate there was well suited for tea cultivation, and the tea industry quickly expanded in Gilan and Mazanderan region. Kashef’s mausoleum in Lahijan is now part of the "Iran's National Tea Museum". Iran's National Tea Museum and Kashef Osaltane's tomb. In 1934 the first modern style tea factory was built. Now there are up to 107 tea factories and a total of 32,000 hectare of tea farms. Most of the farms are located the hillsides of Iran like the farms in Darjeeling. These farms produce an orthodox style of black tea. The color of Iranian tea is red and taste is fairly light, and it is delicious without adding any milk or sugar. The total production of black tea in 2009 was approximately 60’000 tons. Tea in Lahijan A statue in Lahijan Historically, Lahijan is the first town in Iran to have tea plantations. With its mild weather, soil quality and fresh spring water, Lahijan stands to have the largest area of tea cultivation in Iran. But today the country's tea industry is deep in trouble and the verdant gardens that once sustained millions of farmers and their workers are used only for grazing sheep and other personal purposes. Despite having one of the world's most avid tea drinking populations, the Iranian tea economy is reeling from an influx of foreign imports and smugglers who, local traders complain, often have close family ties to powerful figures in the Islamic government. The consequences are plain to see. In Lahijan, the historic capital of Iran's tea industry, land that was once a lush vista of tea bushes is now occupied by houses and flats, built by tea factory owners who have moved into the building trade in response to their industry's decline. Several of the town's tea mills are derelict. Others are at a stand-still or operating at half capacity. Some 40% of the half-million tea farmers in tea-rich Gilan province have gone out of business, because the factories are no longer buying their crops. Hundreds of thousands of pickers have been forced out of work. Cookies (Kulucheh)t eras in Iran's history.

The Dead Sea dries, lowering its level at a speed of 0.8-1.2 m per year. The reasons for this phenomenon has been accentuated in recent years are mainly the lack of rainfall and high temperatures and population growth, which brings the flow diversion of the Jordan River with the creation of aqueducts and reservoirs, like the National Aqueduct of Israel. This has led to the creation of wells on the shores of the Dead Sea and the lowering of its level (de-394m in 1960 to -423 in 2012), reducing its area a third of the original. The shuffling solution for this phenomenon is the creation of the Peace Canal, which would provide the necessary water from the Red Sea to the Dead Sea, measuring 180 miles long and 2 meters high. If it will not put any remedy, it is predicted that in 39 years it can dry completely. http://igeo.tv/ Watch Video Syria, International Armed Conflict: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1RzvCYF1eT8 Igeo TV en español: ver videos, agencia de noticias y venta de metraje en: http://www.youtube.com/user/igeotv

Hello Guys, In this video, I'll be sharing my experiences of Republic of Dagestan and Chechnya. Republic of Dagestan Республика Дагестан Dagestan (/ˌdæɡɪˈstæn, -ˈstɑːn/; Russian: Дагеста́н), officially the Republic of Dagestan (Russian: Респу́блика Дагеста́н), is a federal subject (a republic) of Russia, located in the North Caucasus region. Its capital and largest city are Makhachkala, centrally located on the Caspian Sea coast. With a population of 2,910,249, Dagestan is very ethnically diverse and Russia's most independent republic, with the largest ethnicity constituting less than 30% of the population. Most significant among the ethnicities are the Avar, Dargin, Kumyk, Lezgian, Laks, Azerbaijani, Tabasaran, and Chechen. Ethnic Russians comprise about 3.6% of Dagestan's total population Russian is the primary official language and the lingua franca among the ethnicities Republic of Chechnya Chechnya (/ˈtʃɛtʃniə/; Russian: Чечня́, IPA: [tɕɪˈtɕnʲa]; Chechen: Нохчийчоь, Noxçiyçö), officially the Chechen Republic (/ˈtʃɛtʃɪn/; Russian: Чече́нская Респу́блика, tr. Chechenskaya Respublika, IPA: [tɕɪˈtɕɛnskəjə rʲɪˈspublʲɪkə]; Chechen: Нохчийн Республика, Noxçiyn Respublika), is a federal subject (a republic) of Russia. It is located in the North Caucasus, situated in the southernmost part of Eastern Europe, and within 100 kilometres (62 miles) of the Caspian Sea. The capital of the republic is the city of Grozny. As of the 2010 Russian Census, the republic was reported to have a population of 1,268,989 people; however, that number has been questioned by multiple demographers, who think such population growth after two deadly wars is highly implausible. ————————Equipments I use ——————— Primary Camera:- https://amzn.to/2VlKoIl Action Camera:- https://amzn.to/2Xpp5XV Microphone:- https://amzn.to/2U7ZTDp Laptop:-https://amzn.to/2CaCfPy Wide Angle Lens :-https://amzn.to/2EYgYuj Memory Cards & HDD ———————————— Go Pro Memory Card 64 GB:- https://amzn.to/2EYGsIb 128 GB:- https://amzn.to/2CaeozK DSLR Memory Card 32 GB:- https://amzn.to/2XMEORd 64 GB:- https://amzn.to/2XOrEmA HDD :- 1 TB:- https://amzn.to/2H9QloH 2 TB:- https://amzn.to/2NRDjN3 Bags & Camping Equipment. —————————— BackPack:- https://amzn.to/2XNwaBP Laptop Bag:- https://amzn.to/2EYbyzC Sleeping Bag:- https://amzn.to/2NYR0Kl Camping Tent:- https://amzn.to/2EYbWxO Trekking Shoes:- https://amzn.to/2CbNyY5 Other Accessories ——————————— Power Bank:- https://amzn.to/2Cc46z4 Go Pro Battery:- https://amzn.to/2H9tLwe Go Pro Charger :- https://amzn.to/2EXsdn1 Go Pro Accessories Kit :-https://amzn.to/2NSi4dO Selfie Stick:- https://amzn.to/2EYDFyy Gorilla Pod:- https://amzn.to/2H9gsMA --------------------------------------------------------------- #hitchhikinginrussia #indianinrussia #indianindagestan

It is bordered to the northwest by Armenia, the de facto independent Nagorno-Karabakh Republic and Azerbaijan; with Kazakhstan and Russia across the Caspian Sea; to the northeast by Turkmenistan; to the east by Afghanistan and Pakistan; to the south by the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman; and to the west by Turkey and Iraq. Comprising a land area of 1,648,195 km2 (636,372 sq mi), it is the second-largest nation in the Middle East and the 18th-largest in the world. With 78.4 million inhabitants, Iran is the world's 17th most populous nation. It is the only country that has both a Caspian Sea and an Indian Ocean coastline. Iran has long been of geostrategic importance because of its central location in Eurasia and Western Asia, and its proximity to the Strait of Hormuz. Geography: Iran is the 18th largest country in the world, with an area of 1,648,195 km2 (636,372 sq mi). Its area roughly equals that of the United Kingdom, France, Spain, and Germany combined, or somewhat more than the US state of Alaska. Iran lies between latitudes 24° and 40° N, and longitudes 44° and 64° E. Its borders are with Azerbaijan (611 km (380 mi)) (with Azerbaijan-Naxcivan exclave (179 km (111 mi) )) and Armenia (35 km (22 mi)) to the north-west; the Caspian Sea to the north; Turkmenistan (992 km (616 mi)) to the north-east; Pakistan (909 km (565 mi)) and Afghanistan (936 km (582 mi)) to the east; Turkey (499 km (310 mi)) and Iraq (1,458 km (906 mi)) to the west; and finally the waters of the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman to the south. Mount Damavand, Iran's highest point, is located in Amol County, Mazanderan. Iran consists of the Iranian Plateau with the exception of the coasts of the Caspian Sea and Khuzestan Province. It is one of the world's most mountainous countries, its landscape dominated by rugged mountain ranges that separate various basins or plateaux from one another. The populous western part is the most mountainous, with ranges such as the Caucasus, Zagros and Alborz Mountains; the last contains Iran's highest point, Mount Damavand at 5,610 m (18,406 ft), which is also the highest mountain on the Eurasian landmass west of the Hindu Kush. The northern part of Iran is covered by dense rain forests called Shomal or the Jungles of Iran. The eastern part consists mostly of desert basins such as the Dasht-e Kavir, Iran's largest desert, in the north-central portion of the country, and the Dasht-e Lut, in the east, as well as some salt lakes. This is because the mountain ranges are too high for rain clouds to reach these regions. The only large plains are found along the coast of the Caspian Sea and at the northern end of the Persian Gulf, where Iran borders the mouth of the Arvand river. Smaller, discontinuous plains are found along the remaining coast of the Persian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf of Oman. Iran's climate ranges from arid or semiarid, to subtropical along the Caspian coast and the northern forests. On the northern edge of the country (the Caspian coastal plain) temperatures rarely fall below freezing and the area remains humid for the rest of the year. Summer temperatures rarely exceed 29 °C (84.2 °F).Annual precipitation is 680 mm (26.8 in) in the eastern part of the plain and more than 1,700 mm (66.9 in) in the western part. United Nations Resident Coordinator for Iran Gary Lewis has said that "Water scarcity poses the most severe human security challenge in Iran today" To the west, settlements in the Zagros basin experience lower temperatures, severe winters with below zero average daily temperatures and heavy snowfall. The eastern and central basins are arid, with less than 200 mm (7.9 in) of rain, and have occasional deserts. Average summer temperatures exceed 38 °C (100.4 °F). The coastal plains of the Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman in southern Iran have mild winters, and very humid and hot summers. The annual precipitation ranges from 135 to 355 mm (5.3 to 14.0 in).

The sea bed in the southern part reaches as low as 1023 m below sea level, which is the second lowest natural depression on earth after Lake Baikal (-1180 m). The ancient inhabitants of its coast perceived the Caspian Sea as an ocean, probably because of its saltiness and large size. Mysterious, shrouded in legends and tales Sabayil castle is of particular interest because it is located directly under the water, 350 meters from the shore, and often for this reason is called the Atlantis of the Caspian Sea. It was constructed on a rocky island in the Baylovskoy Bay by Shirvanshah Fariburz III, in 1235. In 1306, the fortress went into the water because of the strong earthquake in the south of the Caspian Sea and the dramatic rise of the sea level. It was only in the early 18th century, when the Caspian Sea retreated, that the island resurfaced. The mystery of Bayil castle has intrigued the scientists, travellers, researchers and archaeologists who have visited Baku over the centuries. The Caspian Sea is the largest enclosed inland body of water on Earth by area, variously classed as the world's largest lake or a full-fledged sea. The sea has a surface area of 371,000 km2 (143,200 sq mi) (not including Garabogazköl Aylagy) and a volume of 78,200 km3 (18,800 cu mi). It is in an endorheic basin (it has no outflows) and is bounded to the northwest by Russia, to the west by Azerbaijan, to the south by Iran, to the southeast by Turkmenistan, and to the northeast by Kazakhstan. The ancient inhabitants of its coast perceived the Caspian Sea as an ocean, probably because of its saltiness and seeming boundlessness. It has a salinity of approximately 1.2%, about a third the salinity of most seawater. The Caspian Sea, like the Aral Sea and Black Sea, is a remnant of the ancient Paratethys Sea. It became landlocked about 5.5 million years ago due to tectonic uplift and a fall in sea level. During warm and dry climatic periods, the landlocked sea has all but dried up, depositing evaporitic sediments like halite that have become covered by wind-blown deposits and were sealed off as an evaporite sink when cool, wet climates refilled the basin. Due to the current inflow of fresh water, the Caspian Sea is a freshwater lake in its northern portions. It is more saline on the Iranian shore, where the catchment basin contributes little flow. Currently, the mean salinity of the Caspian is one third that of the Earth's oceans. The Garabogazköl embayment, which dried up when water flow from the main body of the Caspian was blocked in the 1980s but has since been restored, routinely exceeds oceanic salinity by a factor of 10. The Caspian Sea is the largest inland body of water in the world and accounts for 40 to 44% of the total lacustrine waters of the world. The coastlines of the Caspian are shared by Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia, and Turkmenistan. The Caspian is divided into three distinct physical regions: the Northern, Middle, and Southern Caspian. The Northern--Middle boundary is the Mangyshlak Threshold, which runs through Chechen Island and Cape Tiub-Karagan. The Middle--Southern boundary is the Apsheron Threshold, a sill of tectonic origin between the Eurasian continent and an oceanic remnant, that runs through Zhiloi Island and Cape Kuuli. The Garabogazköl bay is the saline eastern inlet of the Caspian, which is part of Turkmenistan and at times has been a lake in its own right due to the isthmus which cuts it off from the Caspian. Divisions between the three regions are dramatic. The Northern Caspian only includes the Caspian shelf, and is very shallow; it accounts for less than 1% of the total water volume with an average depth of only 5--6 metres (16--20 ft). The sea noticeably drops off towards the Middle Caspian, where the average depth is 190 metres (620 ft). The Southern Caspian is the deepest, with oceanic depths of over 1,000 metres (3,300 ft). The Middle and Southern Caspian account for 33% and 66% of the total water volume, respectively. The northern portion of the Caspian Sea typically freezes in the winter, and in the coldest winters ice forms in the south as well. Over 130 rivers provide inflow to the Caspian, with the Volga River being the largest. A second affluent, the Ural River, flows in from the north, and the Kura River flows into the sea from the west. In the past, the Amu Darya (Oxus) of Central Asia in the east often changed course to empty into the Caspian through a now-desiccated riverbed called the Uzboy River, as did the Syr Darya farther north. The Caspian also has several small islands; they are primarily located in the North and have a collective land area of roughly 2,000 km2 (770 sq mi). Adjacent to the North Caspian is the Caspian Depression, a low-lying region 27 metres (89 ft) below sea level. The Central Asian steppes stretch across the northeast coast, while the Caucasus mountains hug the Western shore. The biomes to both the north and east are characterized by cold, continental deserts. Conversely, the climate to the southwest and south are generally warm with uneven elevation due to a mix of highlands and mountain ranges; the drastic changes in climate alongside the Caspian have led to a great deal of biodiversity in the region. The Caspian Sea has numerous islands throughout, all of them near the coasts. There are none in the deeper parts of the Sea. Ogurja Ada is the largest island. The island is 37 km (23 mi) long, with gazelles roaming freely on it. In the North Caspian, the majority of the islands are small and uninhabited, like the Tyuleniy Archipelago, an Important Bird Area (IBA), although some of them have human settlements.

What happened to the Ekranoplan, the huge ground effect vehicle the Soviets developed in the cold from the 1960's to the 1980's. This was a part plane, part boat that could fly just above the above the sea surface and carry huge loads of personnel or weapons at high speed. We look at its development, its inventor and its ultimate demise. Pateron : https://www.patreon.com/curiousdroid Sponsors : Luke, Muhammad Tauha Ali, Pascal Hausammann, Florian Hesse. Wide of meeting STORYLINE: Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev, arrived in Tehran on Monday ahead of the summit of Caspian Sea littoral (coastal) states, scheduled for Tuesday. Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad greeted Nazarbayev, who was welcomed with an official guard of honour ceremony. Nazarbayev is one of five leaders set to visit Tehran for the summit, which will unite leaders from countries bordering the oil and natural gas rich Caspian Sea; Iran, Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan. Questions were raised on Monday as to whether Russian President Vladimir Putin would attend the summit, following reports of a possible assassination attempt while in Iran. Putin's presence is not expected to produce any breakthrough in talks between the five nations on dividing the resources of the inland sea, which is believed to contain the world's third-largest energy reserves. The legal status of the Caspian has been in limbo since the 1991 Soviet collapse, leading to tension and conflicting claims to oil deposits. Iran, which shared the Caspian's resources equally with the Soviet Union, insists that each coastal nation receive an equal portion of the seabed. Russia, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan want the division based on the length of each nation's shoreline, which would give Iran a smaller share. The first summit of Caspian Sea states was held in Ashkhabad, capital of Turkmenistan in 2002. The Caspian Sea, located in northern Iran, is the world's largest body of water surrounded by land which does not have any outlet to other seas. It is bordered on the west by Azerbaijan and Russia, on the northeast and east by Kazakhstan, on the east by Turkmenistan, and on the south by Iran. Fish stocks in the Caspian Sea provide a major income source for many locals and it also supplies the domestic needs of fishery products as well as export. The high-quality caviar of the Caspian Sea is world famous. Thousands of Iranians also visit the Caspian Sea every year for their holidays. Mazandaran Province in the north of Iran is one of our country’s top tourist attractions, especially for the Iranians themselves. It is situated between the Caspian Sea and the Alborz Mountain Range. The humidity trapped between the two geographical blessings has augmented the lush greenery in the region for thousands and thousands of years. That’s one of the reasons the Hyrcanian Forest went down as a world heritage site. In Kazakhstan, with the help of the World Bank, more than $80million have been spent trying to save the most northern part of the sea but this has only benefited a few hundred people. In this film, we speak to people still living in deserted fishing ports, to see how their lives have changed, and to find out whether they believe that they'll ever see the sea again. Tbilisi is the capital and the largest city of Georgia, lying on the banks of the Kura River with a population of approximately 1.5 million people. Founded in the 5th century AD by Vakhtang I of Iberia, since then Tbilisi served as the capital of various Georgian kingdoms and republics. Because of its location on the crossroads between Europe and Asia, and its proximity to the lucrative Silk Road, throughout history Tbilisi was a point of contention between various global powers. The US interests in the Caucasus are related to the Azerbaijani and Georgian geographical positions, natural resources, economic influence, energy routes and the Afghanistan Plan. The indispensable strategic position of Azerbaijan makes the country unique. As the country is located between Russia and Iran it serves as a transit state but also a buffer zone for the two. No other country can offer the United States a stronghold that can play a double role. Now consider the economic influence and natural resources of the country and the importance of Azerbaijan increases. Add to this the alternative energy route for Europe that passes through Azerbaijan and Georgia. Then think of the crucial role Azerbaijan plays in the Northern Distribution Network, and the immense value of Azerbaijan and Georgia for the United States is revealed.

Welcome to my travelchannel. ☛☛☞☛ https://www.youtube.com/user/nurettinodunya/playlists On my channel you can find more than 1000 films of almost 80 countries. See the playlist on my youtube channel.Enjoy! Yerbent (Erbent) Erbent is a village in Ahal Province, Turkmenistan. The village is located in the Karakum Desert in central Turkmenistan. It is the largest settlement on the road between Ashgabat and Daşoguz, which are located near the southern and northern border of the country respectively. The community largely consists of single-story buildings and yurts. Its economy is dominated by livestock herding, which has resulted in the desertification of the surrounding area. Karakum (Black Sands) Desert:Turkmenistan The sparsely populated Karakum Desert occupies about 80 to 90% of the total area of the Republic of Turkmenistan. Not surprisingly sandstorms and dust storms are very common in the country. The karakum possesses large reserves of oil, natural gas, and the third largest deposits of sulphur in the world. Compared to other deserts it has limited but adequate rainfall for ephemeral vegetation growth, a factor that allows for nomadic pastoralism. Moreover, ample irrigation water, allowing even the growing of Cotton, is provided by the Murghab and Hari rivers flowing into the desert, as well as by the soviet constructed Karakum Canal, the largest irrigation canal in the world which connects the Amu Darya River with the Caspian sea. Seepage from the Karakum canal has led to the creation of numerous lakes and ponds along its course, a source of natural beauty but also increasing salinization due to rising groundwater levels.

It is home to the Caucasus Mountains, which contain Europe's highest mountain, Mount Elbrus, 5,642 metres (18,510 ft). Politically, the Caucasus region is separated between northern and southern parts. The southern parts consist of independent sovereign states, and the northern parts are under the jurisdiction of the Russian Federation. #KHABIBNURMAGOMEDOV #THEDAGESTANCHRONICLES #KHABIBTIME This past June, I set off on an adventure like no other, as I traveled to the Republic of Dagestan located on the western shore of the Caspian Sea. I was invited by the undefeated UFC lightweight champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov, who was fresh off his historic victory over Al Iaquinta at UFC 223 to become the first Russian UFC champion. It was Ramadan and I had the pleasure of documenting Khabib in his most holy state. I learned so much about this country, the people and the culture of Muslims in this region of the world. It was truly a breathtaking experience that I turned into a series, but now I present a closer look at a full feature of those episodes that I will release in the spring. In Persian the word "Noor" means light. Noor is also the name of a city in the north of Iran. The city is located in Mazandaran province right by the Caspian Sea. Noor is also very close to the Hyrcanian forests which are the oldest forests in the world. In this program we will see how Noor city looks like. We will also take a look at the Hyrcanian forests at winter time; an occasion when the forest is rarely visited by people.

Etchmiadzin Cathedral is the mother church of the Armenian Apostolic Church, located in the city of Vagharshapat (Etchmiadzin), Armenia. According to scholars it was the first cathedral built in ancient Armenia, and is considered the oldest cathedral in the world. The original church was built in the early fourth century—between 301 and 303 according to tradition—by Armenia's patron saint Gregory the Illuminator, following the adoption of Christianity as a state religion by King Tiridates III. The Monastery of St. Nino at Bodbe is a Georgian Orthodox monastic complex and the seat of the Bishops of Bodbe located 2 km from the town of Sighnaghi, Kakheti, Georgia. Originally built in the 9th century, it has been significantly remodeled, especially in the 17th century. The monastery now functions as a nunnery and is one of the major pilgrimage sites in Georgia, due to its association with St. Nino, the 4th-century female evangelist of Georgians, whose relics are shrined there.
