Remove all styling with one line of CSS
Happy Friday! To celebrate the coming weekend, let's learn how we can remove all styling from an element with a single line of CSS. We do this with the 'all' property, which does as it sounds, and controls all (or everything). It's as if you selected every single property for your selector. Then, we can reset everything with the 'unset' value, which unsets the values, changing them either to inherit or initial, whichever their default is. This effectively strips all formatting away from your selector and gives you a fresh start to style with. How CSS Inheritance Works
Can you explain how CSS inheritance works? CSS is cascading style sheets. CSS inheritance is when the CSS style selected sets values inherited by all the other properties. So it flows down like variables that inherit properties from other variables. Kind of, yeah. But when you look at the properties for the background on the webpage, the color doesn’t say “blue” but “inherited”. That’s where the CSS style sheet determines all the details of the web page. Not all of them, but many of them. The style sheet makes things easier by dictating the background color, font types, spacing and borders of all the pages so you don’t have to do it manually. And the property inheritance is where it is all filled in automatically, instead of manually. If only the legal software we tried to use would be that easy. No, lawyers won’t let you make it easy – they make sure the law is complex to ensure their continued employment. It is interesting that IT developers did not do that. Web developers pushed standards in IT and internet design to simplify their lives, to make websites and their interfaces as plug and play as their Ethernet cables. So that’s where Cascading Style Sheets came from. CSS is mandated by the HTML5 standard, which gets rid of Silverlight and Adobe Flash to play videos. It gets replaced by a video element. That’s good if there is one less thing I can blame a website crash on, unless I’m the one who created it. What controls the elements, since I know they can change? Cascading style sheets determines which properties can modify an element, the three being importance, specificity and source order. The style sheet gives each one of these weight and then modifies the style based on that. I know the properties can be modified based on the type of device you’re on, reducing image sizes and increasing text sizes when it realizes you’re reading the page on a mobile device. Not all properties get inherited. For example, background images are not inherited, though font and body elements are. Yeah, you don’t need all the cute cat pictures showing up when reading the DCMA notice page. Every element in the HTML document can inherit properties from the parent except for root. Root elements can’t inherit because they don’t have an orphan. Root level everything is the odd one out in web design. Then again, root level is all powerful, because it doesn’t have any parents telling it what to do. What defines the importance of the style sheet element, aside from the “Oh, I love that shade of blue!” Importance of an element’s settings can come from the browser’s default style sheet, user’s browser options and the CSS provided by the page. You might think size 10 font is perfect on that page, but if I demand bigger text for readability, I get it. And when the browser can’t handle the fancy settings, it can throw everything back to default HTML settings and ignore the cascading style sheet altogether. Some people don’t have style. Some people don’t want to have to see the style, like viewing things on ultra-slow connections or dealing with limited vision so turn off all the colors and distractions. There are still over a million people or two using AOL from the 1990s. At least with CSS, you can make sure that your website is visible to them and everyone else.

CSS Inheriting
Check out my new site at http://www.youtubemuse.com/ In this screencast, we are going to talk about grouping CSS style rules. There might be times when you're setting up stylesheet rules, you will across a style rule that's been set many times in the stylesheet. In this kind of situation, you can group the same rule and have many selectors (element, class, or ID) share them.

CSS video tutorial - 5 - Inline styles | style attribute
CSS video tutorial - 5 - Inline styles | style attribute Applying Styles: Three different ways of placing / applying styles: Inline style Embedded style External style Inline style: styles that are placed within the tag itself. we use style attribute to place inline styles. value to the style attribute is declaration list. Note: Inline styles get apply only to that specific tag in which they are declared. And If any property is inheritable in that declaration list, then that property /style will get apply/inherited to its successor tags too. Limitations of inline style: If we have many tags with common styles, then we have to copy paste the entire declaration list to every other tag. That increases the webpage size. Increase in code size. Code Redundancy. No maintainability. Time consuming. To overcome this limitation we use embedded styles. ========================================= Follow the link for next video: CSS video tutorial - 6 - Embedded styles | style tag https://youtu.be/7A5oeofb9-8 Follow the link for previous video: CSS video tutorial - 4 - Declaring CSS Styles https://youtu.be/wSp1N-0MMbg ======= CSS Questions & Answers ============ =========================================

CSS Display Property Explained In Detail
CSS Display Property Explained In Detail https://youtu.be/xHo19HnGI0Y CSS display property allows you to set how an element an element is display and even if it's displayed. You can display an element block, inline, inherit or none. Block makes the element take up a whole row in the HTML element where it resides. Here's how it looks: display:block; Inline makes the element take up only the space it needs. Here's how it looks: display:inline; Inherit applies the same display property as its parent element. Here's how it looks: display:inherit; Display none makes elements disappear. It also makes it so the hidden element does not take up any space on the page. Here's how it looks: display:none; The display property is one of two properties used to make elements disappear. If you use visibility:none you will make an element disappear, but it still takes up the space on page so. So if the element is 200 pixels high, using display:none the content of the element disappears and the "blank" space takes up zero pixels on the page. If on that same element you use visibility:none you have a "blank" space that is still 200 pixels high. That's all there is to it. I hope this video helps you! Editing styles across breakpoints - Webflow CSS tutorial (using the Old UI)
Setting styles on one breakpoint, like desktop, can affect values on other breakpoints. These style values cascade down through different breakpoints—changes on desktop will cascade down to tablet, mobile landscape, and mobile portrait, while changes to mobile landscape will only affect mobile portrait. This cascading nature lies to all styles (e.g., element tag styles cascading down to classes) unless a style is overwritten. In this video, we’ll cover: 1. Adding and changing styles 2. Determining style inheritance 3. CSS video tutorial - 8 - Precedence of CSS styles
CSS video tutorial - 8 - Precedence of CSS styles CSS - Precedence of styles The type of style being considered more important than other is known as precedence of style. The order in which styles are placed determines which style rule takes the highest precedence. The better understanding of precedence of styles will help us to create more organized and manageable code. Important Note: nearest or closest style rule to the tag / element wins. Order of precedence: 1. Inline styles 2. Internal (Embedded) styles 3. External styles. 4. Browser default styles. Browser default styles: Every browser has its own default style rules, those style rules get apply when no styles are defined for a page. External Styles: are styles that are placed in an external sheet (i.e. CSS file). External styles are used to override browser default styles. If more than one CSS files linked then the order in which they placed are considered. Internal Styles: are styles that are placed within header tag. Internal styles are used to override external and browser default styles. Inline Styles: are styles that are placed within opening tag. Inline styles are used to override internal, external and browser default styles. ========================================= Follow the link for next video: CSS video tutorial - 9 - CSS Review One - How browser interprets code https://youtu.be/uIjQeBemGgE Follow the link for previous video: CSS video tutorial - 7 - External style sheet | link tag https://youtu.be/zCry11BLxAk ======= CSS Questions & Answers ============ 1. An interesting motivational story
In this video Yasir Pirzada is explaining his interesting experience that compelled him to do CSS. He is giving lecture in a seminar HOW TO DO CSS and explaining to the students that it's the passion and challenge which moves someone for success. He shares an anecdote and tells how someone gave him a challenge that he can't succeed in the CSS exam, he accepted that challenge and this actually helped him in triggering his passion and motivation. About Yasir Pirzada Yasir Pirzada, a career civil servant (CSS officer), is one of the leading Urdu columnists who have built a wide readership over a very short period of time. His weekly column, Zara Hat Kay – “off the beaten track” – in Jang, Pakistan’s most widely circulated Urdu daily, addresses issues of an ordinary citizen in a unique and humorous style which is original and quite distinctive. The All Pakistan Newspaper Society has awarded him with the Best Columnist Award twice in a row. Apart from this, Yasir has also identified a new dimension in the Self-Help theories and has come up with some unique and innovative ideas for young men and women who aim to improve their lives in a country like Pakistan. He is a public speaker and delivers motivational and inspirational lectures on self-help, success, happiness, critical thinking, peace, personal growth, leadership, stress management, spiritualism and rationalism, communication skills, positive thinking and similar other areas of life for every age group including businessmen, corporate executive, employees, students, housewives, networkers, sportsmen etc. Yasir appeared in the Central Superior Services Examination (CSS) and passed that exam as youngest ever candidate and stood 78 all over Pakistan. He completed his Masters degree afterwards and then joined Civil Services Academy in 1996. As a federal officer, he has served as Commissioner Income Tax and Member Administration Capital Development Authority. Yasir approaches his typically serious subjects in a uniquely poignant manner, using an idiom of subtle humour and satirical innuendo. His columns approach a variety of social issues directly relevant to the human condition and Pakistan’s emerging bittersweet psyche. Yasir has inherited this light-hearted yet serious mood of writing from his father, Ata ul Haq Qasmi, himself a respected literary figure. Yasir is probably the only Urdu columnist who has consistently written on those issues, which were alien to the Urdu press earlier, including topics like feminism, gender discrimination, religious extremism, radicalism etc. Yasir has so far written three books which are compilation of his columns and his 4th book is in the pipeline with the title "Pakistanio k Mughaltey" (Fallacies of Pakistanis). He has also written, apart from many other satirical scripts for different TV channels, a comedy drama serial Afsar Bekar e Khaas for PTV that was aired for more than two years continuously from 2009 to 2011 and was widely appreciated. SASS Tutorial in Hindi #6: Nesting in SASS | SASS NESTING
Welcome all, we will see Nesting in SASS in Hindi. SASS Nesting :- When writing HTML you've probably noticed that it has a clear nested and visual hierarchy. CSS, on the other hand, doesn't. Sass will let you nest your CSS selectors in a way that follows the same visual hierarchy of your HTML. Be aware that overly nested rules will result in over-qualified CSS that could prove hard to maintain and is generally considered bad practice.
