Armaf Club de Nuit Intense Man Review:
Armaf Club de Nuit Intense Man Fragrance Review: Clone Or Challenger?
This is a scent that's gathering popularity and notoriety due to its association with Creed Aventus. Armaf is a Saudi Arabian company which released this fragrance in the same year as its founding, 2015.
Club de Nuit Intense Man imitates Aventus in its composition, but with key differences, and at a lower price point.
[01:43] Part 1: Composition
The fragrance starts off with an intense burst of lime rind alongside cassis and tart green apple. The lime is intense: herbaceous, tangy and zesty, while the cassis brings a rounded, red fruit quality.
Finally, the head contains a hit of pineapple, but quite different from that in Creed's Aventus. What we smell here is sharper and more herbaceous.
The heart opens up with rose, jasmine and birch, while the pineapple persists. Thus, the heart is slightly more reminiscent of Creed Aventus.
This is where the similarities to Aventus end. The base in Armaf's is noticeably synthetic because of its prominent fatty aldehyde notes. This resembles 1990s fragrances like Davidoff Cool Water.
Its notes are different from Cool Water's, however. Specifically, we have vanilla and patchouli upon a base of ambergris.
[04:37] Part 2: Seasonality
This is a very summery fragrance, good for late spring, perhaps early autumn, but not great for winter.
[05:00] Part 3: Wake & Strength
The wake and strength of this Armaf scent is ridiculously good. I recommend about two sprays, but no more than three, tops, which will remain strong with excellent projection for hours.
Though strong, it didn't give me nasal fatigue, which is another point in its favor. As for sillage, with two sprays, you'll get a trail of about 2-3 meters.
[06:35] Part 4: Feedback
In the fragrance community, the debate on Creed Aventus versus Armaf Club de Nuit Intense Man has been ongoing. One one hand, some dismiss Armaf's as an inferior copycat fragrance, while others say Aventus is extremely overpriced.
However, others say both scents have their place, with Aventus being more refined or formal.
Meanwhile, "on the street" feedback has been positive for me, though the more synthetic qualities put off some people.
[08:14] Part 5: Impressions
As far as age range, this best suits people in their twenties, but other age groups can pull it off. Both teenagers and people in their 40s and 50s wear and have good things to say about it.
Club de Nuit Intense Man is good in the daytime, but it's perfect for the evening or night.
Although my written review places this as moderate in terms of masculinity, during this evaluation I found it more masculine. It's still rather moderate, though; certainly not overkill.
[09:55] Part 6: Presentation
Overall, I really don't like CDNIM's presentation. Firstly, the fake-diamond-studded-dice motif of the cap is tacky. The lowercase font situated low on the bottle, along with the black glass, are more tasteful. The medallion on the bottle just seems unnecessary.
Also, the metal cap containing the atomizer tends to twist into an awkward position. When this happens, trying to spray leads to the fragrance dribbling out onto your hand.
The value for money is extraordinary, since at around $50 USD, it's a sixth the price of Aventus. Here in France, I got it for €38.
Club de Nuit Intense Man is an impressive fragrance, though Creed Aventus will always be the original, and more refined than CdNIM.
However, in terms of everyday use, I'm much happier with CdNIM. It's much more affordable, slightly more casual, and is really almost as good as Aventus.
