Card Catalog - Library Checkout Cards - Library Catalog System

02:19
Maintaining a classroom library is a wonderful way to encourage students to read. A great way to keep track of your books is with library cards. The library catalog cards from Top Notch Teacher Products will keep you on top of which student has checked out which book. Of course, traditional libraries can also use these cards to keep up with loaned books. These traditional looking cards, that come in packs of 50, provide headings to record the book's author, title, date due, and borrower's name. The headings on the 3" x 5" cards are printed on both sides for your convenience. Staying organized can be tough with a teacher's busy schedule, the book catalog cards will save you time and allow students to easily check out books. The more students have easy access to books, the more they will read. The headings of the cards can be used to teach students about a variety of books and authors. Older students might be enlisted to create the cards for your library as they read the books. It is also a good way to teach kids in the digital age about the way we used to check out books from a library. Specifications: 50 cards in a pack Dimensions: 3" x 5" cards Headings include: author, title, date due, and borrower's name See all of our Library Cards and Teacher Resources for more teacher supplies like this one. Catalog Card Concerto

03:49
Have you ever wondered what happened to all those old library catalog cards when libraries went digital? At the Cleveland Institute of Art, students in Professor Richard Fiorelli's foundation design class got creative and transformed boxes of catalog cards into an orchestra of noisemakers. Freshman Christopher Ramos '14 recorded the sounds, manipulated them, and created this sound piece. Then, using photos by librarian Cristine Rom and photographer Rob Muller, junior Michaela Lynch '12 (T.I.M.E.-Digital Arts) produced this video featuring CIA's Gund Library. "I used the outdated analog slide projectors as an aesthetic starting point and went from there," said Michaela, "adding stop motion, still motion, and all sorts of mayhem." The video premiered to a packed auditorium as the featured musical interlude at CIA's 2011 commencement celebration.

Sinclair ZX81 (Timex 1000) Grandaddy of Computers | Nostalgia Nerd

15:50
The Sinclair ZX81 (or the Timex 1000 as it was sold in the USA), is in many ways, the father of the home micro computer scene. Although it wasn't the first machine Sinclair released, it was certainly the one to achieve significant success and make a massive impact on the lives of British households (and a more limited impact in the States and other countries). The ZX81 delivered micro computing for the everyday man, as it was priced to be affordable regardless of the sacrifices this meant to hardware. Incorporating only 1KB of RAM and a Z80 processor, it was slightly upgraded from the ZX80, but remarkably, even cheaper at just £69.95 back in 1981. It couldn't do much without an additional RAM pack, but it was the ideal machine to delve into BASIC and learn what computers were all about. Join me as I look at it's history, the marketing strategy used to sell over 1.5 million of the units, it's uses, a selection of ZX81 games and what the legacy of this amazing little micro was. And of course, I talk about Sir Clive Sinclair quite a bit as well. ☟Subcribe☟ https://www.youtube.com/user/nostalgianerdvideos?sub_confirmation=1 ✊Support Me! ✊ Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/nostalgianerd?ty=h Visit my eBay Shop: http://ebay.to/1QQpYyy Buy From Amazon (affiliate): http://amzn.to/1OzCQWR ★Nerd Social★ Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/nostalnerd Face: http://www.facebook.com/nostalnerd Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/nostalgianerd Web: http://www.nostalgianerd.com ★Equipment★ Lumix G6 with Vario 14-42mm Lens Nikon D3200 with 40mm Macro Corel Video Studio Ultimate X7 Corel Paint Shop Pro X6 Blue Snowball Microphone ♜Resources♜ First and Last tracks are Night Drive Turbo and Reflection of Paradise by the amazing Rad Universe - https://soundcloud.com/raduniverse Is That You or Are You You by Chris Zabriskie is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution licence (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/) Source: http://chriszabriskie.com/reappear/ Artist: http://chriszabriskie.com/ Some images sourced from Wikipedia/Wikimedia Magazine archives sourced from archive.org Jim Bagley's demonstration of Dragon's Lair on the ZX81 is available at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CuF4g5CDZQA

Commodore 64—25th Anniversary Celebration

01:32:16
[Recorded Dec 10, 2007] The Commodore 64 was an 8-bit home computer released by Commodore International in August, 1982, and during it's lifetime (between 1982 and 1994), sales totaled close to 17 million units, making it the best-selling single personal computer model of all time. Approximately 10,000 commercial software titles were developed for the Commodore 64 including development tools, office applications, and games. The C64 made an impressive debut at the 1982 Winter Consumer Electronics Show, as recalled by Production Engineer David A. Ziembicki: All we saw at our booth were Atari people with their mouths dropping open, saying, 'How can you do that for $595?' The term personal computer was a common term in the early 80's and was used as early as 1972 to characterize Xerox PARC's Alto. During this era of microcomputer innovation, the market was dominated by the IBM Personal Computer (IBM PC), the Commodore 64, the Atari 8-bit family, the Apple II, Tandy Corporation's TRS-80s, and various CP/M machines. Although the history of the Commodore is rich, the histories of the people and the companies that developed these early personal computers are also critical to the personal productivity tools and business solutions we often take for granted in our daily lives. This panel discussion is a celebration of the Commodore 64 computer and how it spawned a tremendous market for home, small business, distributed and networked technology. Using PayPal's "PayPal Here" System

06:07
In this video I show PayPal's "PayPal Here" mobile payment system mainly known for handling credit card payments on the go. If you have a PayPal account you're automatically eligible to use this system. Just request a free PayPal card reader and you're all set, just download the PayPal Here app. PayPal's processing fees for card payments are as follows: Scanned cards: 2.7% Manual card input: 3.5% + $0.15 It's very simply to use and the funds become instantly available in your PayPal account. Something to keep in mind is while all Apple devices support the card reader (because they all have 4-conductor 3.5mm headphone jacks) some Android devices may not so check to make sure it's compatible. ---------------------------------- Like the Facebook page: http://facebook.com/brian.mausolf Follow me on Twitter: http://twitter.com/mausolfb

UNIVAC - Information Age: Then and Now

13:17
[Recorded 1960] This humorous promotional film for the Remington Rand UNIVAC computer features J. Presper Eckert and John Mauchly in leading roles. Produced in 1960, the film outlines the earlier history of computing leading to the development and application of the UNIVAC computer. J. Presper Eckert and John Mauchly, the major figures in the creation of the ENIAC computer, left the University of Pennsylvania's Moore School of Engineering at the end of WWII to found their own firm. They had hoped to be the first to exploit the new concept of the electronic stored program computer, but were hampered by a lack of funds and, to some extent, by the bureaucracy surrounding their only major customer, the Census Bureau. They sought other investors but never had enough to properly complete their projects. They eventually sold their business to Remington Rand (later Sperry Rand) who incorporated it as the UNIVAC division of the company. Eckert remained with UNIVAC all his life but Mauchly left after a few years to become a private consultant. Remington Rand's Univac Division produced some of the earliest commercially available machines ahead of more famous firms such as IBM. The large management structure of the company often frustrated their engineers, many of whom left to found other very influential computer firms (e.g. Control Data Corporation). This bureaucracy is thought by many (including their Vice President, J. Presper Eckert) to have eventually limited their ability to take advantage of rapidly changing technology and to lose the lead to other firms such as IBM. In 1955 the Sperry Corporation and Remington Rand merged forming Sperry Rand. Sperry Rand then eventually merged with Burroughs to from Unisys and is still in business.
