Xbox Longplay [015] Crimson Sea (Part 1 of 3)

01:38:55
http://www.longplays.net Played By: RickyC The first 4 minutes and some small cutscenes at the start haven't been deinterlaced so they look terrible and have lines through them. Its made worse by youtube halving the frame rate so the original files you can't tell. Had this game a few years ago so picked it up when i saw it. I'm on the EX mode which is normal mode but with the money I had from my last game, bosses are stronger and there are new items available. I got S rank on the first level to get me some money but skipped the cutscenes to save time. I added them later but forgot the boss's death. I'm not too sure if the timer counts during the cutscenes though. I edited out a lot of level retries through the game so hopefully i remembered them all. Good game like chaos legion however towards the end the controls just seem too sluggish to cope with the amount of monsters. Takes time to 180, dash or use a neo-psionic after pressing the button and you're vunrable after a combo. I don't position my team mates other than on one level, I'm not sure how much doing this helps them.

Ok here's one that you may have NEVER heard of... the epic, amazing, gorgeous and brilliant Crimson Sea. When this came out I was worried that it was a budget title with a nice front cover, there were a lot of these that came out on the original xbox, so I was weary and I went into my local Game one day and asked which they thought would be better, this or something called Black Stone something something... I was told the latter was better and proceeded to buy on their say so.... NEVER AGAIN, I took the crap game they sold me back the next day and swapped it for this. Thank god I did! this is probably in my top 10 all time games over any generation. this game is one of the few successful games for the Xbox that was a fresh property, a property that threw a bunch of ideas together and something that came out of that ACTUALLY worked! Its an amalgam of PSO, Shenmue, Final Fantasy etc, it has the item collection, weapon customisation and story of a massive RPG, the gorgeous graphics of a FF game and the free battle style fighting of PSO as well as the general idea of having a ship you can relax in, speak to characters and pick up more missions as well as shopping for upgrades etc. This video showcases a couple of nice missions from the mission mode, NOT the story mode. If this gets some good feedback I might do some vids of the story mode so you can see the similarities to PSO. However its best trait is that its combat is stellar! the weapons can be used as both guns AND swords!! And you have awesome special moves, party members and various other ways of playing Enjoy!!

Taken from XboxGamer DVD03, May 2003. Please see playlists on my channel to see the other contents of this DVD. Footage taken from the DVD included with XboxGamer magazine (UK). This magazine ran from the original Xbox launch in early 2002 to ~April 2004 across 40 issues. During a brief period in 2003 this magazine had a DVD that included previews, reviews and features. However, there were only 7 of these DVD issues were produced; their contents uploaded to this channel. I am not nor ever was affiliated with the magazine/publisher. This is an unofficial fan attempt to archive the footage and make it available for people to view. Please drop an email (see channel about page) if you have specific issues, queries etc.

Crimson Sea Introduction - Xbox

10:16
Crimson Sea is a decent Xbox game with not-so-decent controls and camera. It's kinda like Dynasty Warriors in space, which is unsurprising when you consider who's behind the game. It was one of the early Xbox releases and was a pretty good showing for its time. If only the controls and camera were improved and the game had a little more variety (it's repetitve as hell, but if you can put up with Dynasty Warriors 2+, then you can definitely handle this). The story could have been fleshed out more too as it's evident the game was rushed a bit to market, but it's not bad, all things considered. The game centers around Sho, a private detective who makes a meager living along with his little sidekick friend, Yangqin, when he is approached by a mysterious woman (who is also constantly sexy... the game won't ever let you forget) who wants him to take on a very special job for big bucks. He reluctantly agrees to do the job (as he doesn't trust her) only to realize that there are Muton (Mute Monsters and Strange Aliens) in the area. He risks his life fighting the monsters when he finds what he was sent to get; an IAG emblem. The mission was to test Sho and Yangqin, and the leader of IAG (or Intelligence Agency of the Galaxy), who is none other than the "Sexy Lady" known as Live-D, was pleased with their results. She asks them to join their ranks and spread justice across the galaxy, to which they soon agree. You'll soon learn that Sho in particular was really chosen because he's of a rare race of people known as "Vipas", people who can manipulate sounds and wavelengths to utilize special powers and Neo-Psionics. The story deepens somewhat from there, but it always feels a little disjointed. The game is more whimsical than its sequel with more dialogue and emphasis on companionship, as you can fight with various team members in this game and they influence mission objectives and rank. Its environments are also more varied and open than the sequel as well, though the sequel (which is on PS2 btw) made various improvements to the gameplay. The basic flow of the game is to go on missions while finding items and defeating hordes of enemies. You can gain money to buy items as well as get special goodies by gaining "S" ranks (which, unlike some games, is very rewarding if you're patient enough, but very hard). You can upgrade your gun and blade by swapping various components within three categories: Barrel, Effector, and Generator, to suit your playing style and alter your strategies. The allies you gain do fight and are helpful, but you'll be doing the majority of the fighting. Your bread-and-butter special moves, or Neo-Psionics, are like magic abilities, which have various effects ranging from damage to support to assist. They look pretty cool and can make missions much easier if used effectively, and even make you forgive the camera and standard controls... almost. The problem with the controls is that they are sluggish and the camera can obscure enemies often, which is not good at all in a game like this where there are hundreds on screen at times. If it was a little more fluid like Dynasty Warriors, there wouldn't be many complaints. It can be overcome, but it takes much practice to get "S" ranks in this game; only the introductory stage is what you'd really consider a cakewalk. Is it worth buying? Yeah, if you like games like this-- it's probably cheap as heck anyway. It's not the greatest game, but I'd like to see a sequel to it for the 360 or PS3... it's not very likely as neither game sold very well, but I'd probably buy it if it came out. Enjoy.

Crimson Sea is a relatively straight-forward action game on the Xbox, released by Koei back in 2002. The two main draws to it are the graphics (which are excellent) and the localization (which is excellently bad). In this video, I just do a simple run through a level filled with conveyor belts where you have to collect at least 160 of those little spinning yellow icons while shooting, slashing and dodging. It's not a very good run, but it does show a little bit of action, a small boss fight and a brief snippet of the voice acting.

[Quick Look] Crimson Sea 2 [2004] - Playstation 2 HD

What can you say more about games from Koei then , each one is the same shitty game ... but with a different theme to it ... its like their company can only produce two type of game : casual RTS and Dynasty Wars And each one of theirs games is the game ... gamers critiqued this so much that later they fucked it and added DYNASTY WARS to each of their games ... like ZELDA DYNASTY WARS , GUNDAM DYNASTY WARS , FIRST OF THE NORTH STAR DYNASTY WARS ... DYNASTY WARS XX and so on ... Guess when you are good at one thing ... you mass produce it , so if your good at this one genre and it keeps you afloat ... change a theme add new models ... Profit So what about this Dynasty Wars clone called Crimson Sea 2 ... its awful ... to be more precise its boring repetition on one map , and its missions to GRIND your character ...to UNLOCK other missions ON THIS SAME MAP ... till infinity ... then another map ... then the same ... uhemmm the theme/music/ nor its gameplay of grind did not sparked interest in me ... if you would ask me about this , i would summary this as : Crimson Sea 2 is not worth your time PS. a funny tidbit about this game is ... the first part was Xbox Exclusive , dunno how it is but after seeing some vids of it ... its 20x better then the second game ... in animations , cgi and story ... at it works on xbox360 so ... have to check it out for myself

It features many planets including the metropolis planet of Grarve, the mountain/desert-like planet of Agitato, the jungle/forest planet of Semplice, the difficult to classify planet Gen and the mysterious Crimson Planet. The population consists of mostly humans but there are a few non-humans as well, though when humans first colonized the system they effectively took over. The story revolves around a young man named Sho, who works as a private detective. Initially, he is hired to merely retrieve an item that was lost beneath Grarve, but is promptly drafted into the organization known as IAG (Intelligence Agency of the Galaxy). Sho becomes tasked with leading the unit known as G-Squad and must help do what he can to stop a terrifying threat against humanity known as the Mutons, as well as meeting Archeomusiologists (scholars that have studied sound) and discovers that IAG may be using him only as a weapon.
[PS2 Longplay] Crimson Sea 2 Part 1

01:39:33
Hey, if World of Longplays did the first game, I don't see why I can't do the sequel. Despite the length of the video, most of the action is from the tutorial and the small first section. That's because I figured it'd be best to recap everything that happened in the original game by viewing many minutes of footage from the original and after that, I get a better understanding of more of the mechanics and characters. Part 2 will have much more action in it so stay tuned for it and if you like/liked this video or any of my other videos, consider subscribing and like always, Enjoy!!

The brief ending to this lackluster game, followed by the end credits and a brief epilogue that sets up the sequel. Sort of. I guess. If this saves one person from forcing themselves to play through the game, then it'll be all worthwhile.
