Digital fashion illustration with adobe Illustrator

44:31
https://patternlab.london/home/digital-fashion-illustration-adobe-illustrator In this episode, we demonstrate how to transform our hand-drawn fashion illustrations and sketches from S1. EP3 into gorgeous precision digital artworks or digital fashion illustrations, using Adobe Illustrator CC. We learn how to use layers to break down our illustrations into key components such as: the model layer; body layer, details layer and outline layer. This methodical approach allows us to quickly create fashion illustrations that can be coloured and adapted quickly and easily to suit your project. We also discuss the concept of line weight to highlight certain areas of the design and create an almost 3D feel. We also demonstrate how to add delicate details, flat colour, print and other textures using clipping masks, to really bring your designs to life. It's a comprehensive tutorial that really goes into detail when it comes to professional fashion drawing in Adobe Illustrator. What materials do you mainly use for your drawings? In general, I use Copic Ciao markers and Touch Twin Markers, Quill Multiboard A4 white paper, 2B and HB Pentel and Faber-Castell 0.5 mechanical pencil and Faber-Castell PVC-Free Space Eraser (Cool name) and I use Uni-ball Signo white fineliner 2. Did you go to any art school or academy? No. I took Studio Arts in senior high school. It's not from that class that I learned evreything I know. I did learn new things from the class, but not to do with fashion illustration or manga drawings. I went to a regular high school, so it doesn't specialize in art. 3. How do you draw the models? Do you use any templates? I started out by tracing models from magazines which is harder than it sounds, but once you get the hang of it, it's pretty easy. Then of course, I searched all types of videos on YouTube and some sites as well on Google, which unfortunately, I don't remember. How I learned to draw my models is using the 9-Head technique. 4. How old are you? I am now 19 years old 5. How long have you been drawing? I'm pretty sure I started drawing at 6. That's probably my oldest memory of me drawing. I got into manga drawings when I was 11 years old, I started teaching myself how to draw manga when I was 13 years old. I started developing an interest in fashion design also when I was 11, but I pursued that interest or taken it further at the age of 14. So, I would say I started drawing fashion illustration at the age of 14. 6. Where do you get your inspiration? I get my inspiration from music, photos on Instagram, Tumblr fashion trends, things that I love. There are times where I am just in an Artist's Block and I feel really brain dead where I can't draw. Or I force myself to draw and it never turns out to be something that I like. 7. Do you have any links or books you can recommend? Definitely! Fashion Illustration by Anna Kiper and Fashion Poses for Fashion Illustrators by Sha Tahmasebi are two books that I own at the moment. I'm hoping to get more. These two books are very helpful if you're a beginner or even if you want to be a bit more advanced. MUSIC: Blue paint by Kevin MacLoed NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT INTENDED

These two books are very helpful if you're a beginner or even if you want to be a bit more advanced. MUSIC: Snowing by Peter Rodenko Spanish Summer by Kevin MacLeod NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT INTENDED

I had a pleasure to support Aldo with my live illustration session over the AW17 collection press day in London. It was an exclusive session for stylists, bloggers and influencers, as well as the brand itself to capture some gorgeous dreamy shoes from the collection. The pastel vibes merged perfectly with the Solange's 'Cranes in the sky', which was in fact played while I was performing some of the illustrations over the event. Get in touch! These two books are very helpful if you're a beginner or even if you want to be a bit more advanced. MUSIC: Happy Alley by Kevin MacLeod NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT INTENDED
