This video will show you how to set up your paper following correct APA Style guidelines in Microsoft Word 2010 for PC. This specific video focuses on how to make a reference list and correctly reference journal articles, books, book chapters, government documents, and dissertations. The steps should be very similar on every version of Word since 2007 for PC. On Word for Mac, I believe the steps are the same, but the interface is different. How to use an Appendix in APA format 6th edition: Appendix format, label and titling

01:30
Using and formatting an appendix properly will help you get the highest mark you can on your essay. Watch this video for helpful tips and must-know information. Appendixes need to be referred to in the paper. They are referred to by their label. When there is only one appendix you just label it Appendix (no A needed). When there are more than one you label it with a capital letter. Use the letters A, B, C and so on in the order they appear in your paper. They go after the reference list Each Appendix must have a title. They must be ordered in the same order that they are mentioned in the text. Each Appendix begins on a separate page. Center the label of the Appendix at the top of each page. Center the title of the Appendix. Use uppercase and lowercase letters in the title. Appendices may have headings and subheadings just like the body of the paper. Usually tables will have their own appendix. In this case you can use the label of the appendix as the label of the table. For more details about variations on how to present different types of information in an Appendix please refer to the APA textbook. Most teachers will not mark the appendix unless specified in the assignment instructions. Use an appendix for brief information that supports your narrative but is not essential for grading. APA Formatting for PowerPoint: How to Apply APA Style to PowerPoint Presentations

05:22
Guidelines for APA should also be applied to PowerPoint presentations when required. Any use of outside source material must be documented on the PowerPoint slide using APA citation formats from the 6th edition. Because PowerPoint slides are mainly a visual medium, the presenter must know how APA documents elements such as images, tables, graphs, and other media with titles, notes, and APA parenthetical citations. APA style and citation formats still apply to PowerPoint slides although the citations are being using in a different medium.

How to create APA style documents in ms word 2016

10:50
This Tutorial will show you how to create APA style/ format documents in Microsoft word 2016 SUBSCRIBE MY CHANNEL also this tutorial will help the students how to make thesis in APA style, APA Paper Formatting General guidelines: i. Use white 8 ½ x 11” paper. ii. Make 1 inch margins on the top, bottom, and sides The first word in every paragraph should be indented one half inch. iii. APA recommends using Times New Roman font, size 12. iv. Double space the entire research paper v. Include a page header known as the “running head” at the top of vi. every page. (To make this process easier, set your word vii. processor to automatically add these components onto each page) viii. To create the running head/page header, insert page numbers justified to the right-hand side of the paper (do not put p. or pg. in front of page numbers) Then type “TITLE OF YOUR PAPER” justified to the left using all capital letters If your title is long, this running head title should be a shortened version of the title of your entire paper. APA Paper Components Your essay should include these four major sections: Title Page Abstract Main Body References Title Page This page should contain four pieces: the title of the paper, running head, the author’s name, institutional affiliation, and an author’s note. Create the page header/running head as described above. *Please note that only on the title page, your page header/running head should include the words “Running Head” before your title in all capitals. The rest of the pages should not include this in the page header. It should look like this on the title page: he title of the paper should capture the main idea of the essay but should not contain abbreviations or words that serve no purpose It should be centered on the page and typed in 12-point Times New Roman font. Do not underline, bold, or italicize the title. Your title may take up one or two lines, but should not be more than 12 words in length. All text on the title page should be double-spaced in the same way as the rest of your essay Do not include any titles on the author’s name such as Dr. or Ms. The institutional affiliation is the location where the author conducted the research Abstract On the following page, begin with the Running title. On the first line of the page, center the word “Abstract” (but do not include quotation marks). On the following line, write a summary of the key points of your research. Your abstract summary is a way to introduce readers to your research topic, the questions that will be answered, the process you took, and any findings or conclusions you drew. This summary should not be indented, but should be double-spaced and less than 250 words. If applicable, help researchers find your work in databases by listing keywords from your paper after your summary. To do this, indent and type Keywords: in italics. Then list your keywords that stand out in your research. The Body On the following page, begin with the Body of the paper. Start with the Running title On the next line write the title (do not bold, underline, or italicize the title) Begin with the introduction. Indent. The introduction presents the problem and premise upon which the research was based. It goes into more detail about this problem than the abstract. Begin a new section with the Method. Bold and center this subtitle The Method section shows how the study was run and conducted. Be sure to describe the methods through which data was collected. Begin a new section with the Results. Bold and center this subtitle. The Results section summarizes the data. Use graphs and graphs to display this data. Begin a new section with the Discussion. Bold and center this subtitle. This Discussion section is a chance to analyze and interpret your results. Draw conclusions and support how your data led to these conclusions. Discuss whether or not your hypothesis was confirmed or not supported by your results. Determine the limitations of the study and next steps to improve research for future studies. References On a new page, write your references. Begin with a running title Center and bold the title “References” (do not include quotation marks, underline, or italicize this title) Alphabetize and Double-space all entries Every article/source mentioned in the paper and used in your study should be referenced and have an entry.

How to Make Citation in Research Papers | APA Referencing SHORTCUT

06:25
In Text Referencing APA is an 'author/date' system, so your in-text reference for all formats (book, journal article, web document) consists of the author(s) surname and year of publication. The basics of an in-text reference in APA: Include author or authors and year of publication. Use round brackets. Example: (Smith & Bruce, 2018) If you quote directly from an author you need to include the page or paragraph number of the quote in your in-text reference. See the 'Quotes' section below for more advice on adding quotes into your work. Include author or authors, year of publication and page or paragraph number of your quote. Use round brackets. Example: (Smith & Bruce, 2018, pp. 25-26) All in-text references should be listed in the reference list at the end of your document. The purpose of the reference list entry is to contain all the information that a reader of your work needs to follow-up on your sources. An important principle in referencing is to be consistent. When compiling your APA Reference List, you should: List references on a new page with a centred heading titled: References. Include all your references, regardless of format, e.g. books, journal articles, online sources, in one alphabetical listing from A - Z. Order entries alphabetically by surname of author(s). List works with no author under the first significant word of the title. Indent second and subsequent lines of each entry (5-7 spaces). Use double spacing. Note that all references in APA end with a full stop except when the reference ends with a URL or a doi. Journal article A basic reference list entry for a journal article in APA must include: Author or authors. The surname is followed by first initials. Year of publication of the article (in round brackets). Article title. Journal title (in italics). Volume of journal (in italics). Issue of journal (no italics). Page range of article. DOI. The first line of each citation is left adjusted. Every subsequent line is indented 5-7 spaces. Example: Ruxton, C. (2016). Tea: Hydration and other health benefits. Primary Health Care, 26(8), 34-42. doi:10.7748/phc.2016.e1162

How to Break or Split URLs (Web Addresses) Across Lines in APA References List

03:30
Pretty much everyone runs into this situation in every document. If you have any citations in your references list that include web site addresses (URLs), in most cases they will leave large gaps of white space. Even if they break naturally on a hyphen, technically that is not APA format. You have to break the URL before a punctuation mark but if you just hit the ENTER key you will lose your clickable link. This video quickly shows you how to break a URL in your references list (and this can be used for APA, Chicago, or any reference style because the procedure is the same). Good luck with your writing and hope this was helpful! :) Join me at http://www.seriousscholar.com for more helpful academic tips and lessons.
