Fix cannot install Windows on dynamic disk
When you're going to install Windows on your computer or laptop, but you can't select the disk that you want. And if you click 'Show details', you see this message "Windows cannot be installed to this hard disk space. The partition contains one or more dynamic volumes that are not supported for installation." This means that you can't install Windows on the dynamic disk. * Note: This solution choose to clear any data and information on disk so if you have any important data on the disk, you have to move it or backup to other disk first. * Warning: If you did software RAID 0, or RAID 5 on the disk, converting the disk to basic will break the RAID and you will lose data on the RAID. To fix this issue, you have to convert the disk to basic disk. In this video, I will use the clean command in disk part program to clear any data and information on the disk. 1. On the page that you have to select a disk to install Windows, press Shift + F10 to open command prompt window. 2. Type 'diskpart' and press Enter. 3. Type 'list disk' and press Enter. This command displays all disks on the computer. 4. Select disk that you want. In this example, I will select the first disk (disk 0), so I type 'select disk 0'. And press Enter. 5. Then, type 'clean' and press Enter to delete any information on the disk. 6. Type 'exit' and press Enter. 7. Close the command prompt window. 8. Click 'Refresh' to update disk status. 9. Now you can create partition or choose the disk to install Windows. === References Basic and Dynamic Disks https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/aa363785(v=vs.85).aspx Standard RAID levels https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standard_RAID_levels

UWP 028 | XAML Styles
Up until now, we've set the fonts, colors, sizes and more of the XAML controls we've used individually one at a time, however in some cases this causes our XAML to be bloated with a lot of repeated markup. However, styles allow us to gather up common settings that we want to apply across many XAML controls on a single page or across the entire app, give them a name, then apply them in a more organized and succinct manner. Direct3D 11 1: Introduction and Window
Thanks for the support on the Patreon page, you people are champions! Sorry about the sound maxxing out, my levels weren't right again. I think I've got it now... Anyway, in this vid we'll take the first steps towards creating a Direct3D application in a desktop mode Windows application. Most of today's vid is spent going over creating a window, which is not Direct3D, but it's rather important anyway. I've gone through it pretty quickly and copy-pasted most of it because I'd like to get to more interesting topics. If you'd like more info on any of this stuff, check out the MSDN pages for the relevant function calls. The final bit of the vid we #include the main direct3d 11 header and link to the d3d11.lib library. If you can't compile your project, you might not have installed the SDK properly. Or, you might need to specify the the header and library folders of your installed SDK for your project. The code I've used is based on the MSDN samples available from: code.msdn.microsoft.com/windowsdesktop/Direct3D-Tutorial-Win32-829979ef I'm using Visual Studio 2013 Community, which installs the DirectX 11 SDK automatically, but if you need to install it separately, it's available from Microsoft at: www.microsoft.com/en-au/download/details.aspx?id=6812 Isn't that just a kick in the creel! JavaScript popup window
Link for all dot net and sql server video tutorial playlists http://www.youtube.com/user/kudvenkat/playlists Link for slides, code samples and text version of the video http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2015/01/javascript-popup-window_22.html In this video we will discuss, how to open a popup window using JavaScript. To open a popup window, use window.open() method. All the parameters are optional. window.open(URL, name, features, replace) URL - URL of the page to open. If URL is not specified, a new window with about:blank is opened name - Specifies the target attribute or the name of the window. _blank - URL is loaded into a new window. This is the default value if not specified. _parent - URL is loaded into the parent frame _self - URL replaces the current page _top - URL replaces any framesets that may be loaded name - name of the window features - Must be a comma-separated list. Some of the browsers does not support these features. menubar (yes/no) - Shows or hides the browser menu toolbar (yes/no) - Shows or hides the browser navigation bar location (yes/no) - Shows or hides the address field status (yes/no) - Shows or hides the status bar resizable (yes/no) - Whether or not the window is resizable scrollbars (yes/no) - Whether or not to display scroll bars top(pixels) - The top position of the window left(pixels) - The left position of the window height (pixels) - The height of the new window width (pixels) - The width of the new window replace - Specifies whether the URL creates a new entry or replaces the current entry in the browser history. Works only if the url is loaded into the same window. true - URL replaces the current document in the browser history list false - URL creates a new entry in the browser history list No parameters are passed to window.open() method. Since URL is not specified, a new window with about:blank will be opened. [input type="button" value="Open popup" onclick="window.open()" /] Most modern browsers open new tabs instead of separate windows. If you want to open the popup in a new window, one workaround I have found is to specify the URL, name, and features(height and width) parameters. This may not work in all browsers and it also depends on user's browser preferences. [input type="button" value="Open popup" onclick="window.open('http://google.com', '_blank', 'height=200,width=200')" /] When name parameter is set to _self, the new window replaces the current window [input type="button" value="Open popup" onclick="window.open('http://google.com', '_self')" /] Specify where you want the new popup window to be positioned using top and left features. [input type="button" value="Open popup" onclick="window.open('http://google.com', 'My Window', 'height=300,width=300, top=400, left=400')" /] Disable scrollbars and resizing. Works in IE but not in Chrome. [input type="button" value="Open popup" onclick="window.open('http://google.com', 'My Window', 'height=300,width=300, scrollbars=no, resizable=no')" /] To close pouup use window.close() method. [input type="button" value="Open popup" onclick="openPopup()" /] [input type="button" value="Close popup" onclick="closePopup()" /] [script type="text/javascript"] var popup; function openPopup() { popup = window.open("http://google.com","My Window", "height=300,width=300") } function closePopup() { popup.close(); } [/script]

How to use Windows 10 Task View and Virtual Desktops
One of my favorite features on Windows 10 Technical Preview is task view. By swiping from the left side of the screen, I can see all the open apps and quickly switch as needed. Windows 10 goes a step further with virtual desktops. This lets you group apps in multiple desktops. For example, you can place Outlook, Twitter, and the web browser in one desktop, while you have Netflix in another desktop. The organization is up to you. How To Restore Default Icons On Windows 10
This video will show you how to restore corrupted icons to their default icons. The icons that Windows uses for your documents and programs are saved in an icon cache, so they can be displayed quickly instead of having to slowly load them every time. If you ever have problems with the icons on your computer, rebuilding the icon cache might help. Sometimes the icon cache gets out of date, causing icons to display incorrectly, or even go missing. For example, maybe you upgraded an application and the new version came with a new icon, but you still see the old icon on the desktop. Sometimes a blank or damaged icon may appear when a perfectly good icon was displayed before. When this happens, you have to reset the icon cache and let them automatically re-create it. In this article, we’ll show you how to rebuild the icon cache in Windows 10. This guide also applies to Windows 8 and 7, but the process works slightly different. How the Icon Cache Works in Windows Icons are everywhere in Windows: the Control Panel, Programs and Features, File Explorer, and so on. Having to retrieve all possible icon images from hard disk and to render them dynamically can consume lots of system resources. As a result, Windows save icons it’s already retrieved in its memory. When you shut down or restart, it will write this cache to a hidden file on your hard drive, so it doesn’t have to reload all those icons later. The database file grows as more information is added to it. According to this document from MSDN knowledgebase , when Windows needs to display an icon, it’ll check the cache, and display the cached icon if a match is found. If it doesn’t find one, it’ll check the executable file and scan the application directory. Caching mechanisms, such as the IconCache database, have been already discussed by multiple system specialists, and in depth by Mark E. Russinovich and David A. Solomon in their Windows Internals book, if you’re curious to learn more, but the basics are all you need to understand for this process. Steps: 1. CTRL+SHIFT+ESC 2. Go to the processes tab 3. Click on explorer.exe and end task 4. Click on File-New Task (Run...) 5. Enter the following: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local 6. Hit ALT and click on "Tools-Folder Options" 7. Go to the View tab 8. Click on show hidden files and folders 9. Apply, Ok 10. Delete IconCache.db by using Shift+Del 11. Go ahead and hide hidden files and folders if you like 12. Go back to the task manager and click on File-New Task (Run...) 13. Type in the following: C:\Windows\explorer.exe 14. There you go, back to default! This tutorial will apply for computers, laptops, desktops, and tablets running the Windows 10, Windows 8/8.1, Windows 7 operating systems.Works for all major computer manufactures (Dell, HP, Acer, Asus, Toshiba, Lenovo, Samsung)

[Tutorial] Install Windows 8.1 without SSE2/NX Support
In this video I will show you how to install Windows 8(.1) on not supported CPUs. Also, please leave feedback on the new editing style. I wanted to try something different than normal, I hope you like it. Download link for W8PatchKit: http://adf.ly/1BD1OV FAQ: Q: Does this work for Windows 10? A: No. It does not. You will either have to wait for a patch that does work or try it with Windows 8 Q: I get the error "Patch location not found", how do I resolve this? A: As "Microlag Tech" pointed out in the comments, this is because there was a update for Windows 8.1 which broke this patch. The solution: use a older version of Windows 8(.1) Q: I get a BSOD (blue screen of death) when I try booting Windows 8, how can I fix this? A: First of all, make sure you followed the steps in the video exactly. If it still does not work, your computer may not be compatible. Some PCs or laptops simply are not able to run Windows 8, nothing I can do about that. Sorry. Q: Can I remove my previous operating system after the installation of Windows 8(.1)? A: Yes, simply by deleting the old Windows 7 partition, after that, you can reformat the partition and use it again. Q: I can't find the install.wim file A: You are not using a correct ISO, make sure you get an untouched version from MSDN. If it still isn't there, try an older version. If you used the Media Creation Tool from Microsoft, there will be an "install.esd" file instead, you need to somehow extract it like the install.wim but at this moment I don't know if that is possible. XAML (prnounced zammel) is very important for all modern Windows development. In this video I'm going to take you through the basics, the terminology and how to start using it. The next video will cover more basics and give you a better example of how to use XAML. Combining Disks and Basic and Dynamic Disks
This video will look at how multiple disks can be combined together to form the one volume and how basic and dynamic disks work. Dynamic disks are required in most cases when combining disks together. Access the rest of the course http://ITFreeTraining.com/server Download the PDF handout http://ITFreeTraining.com/handouts/server/basic-dynamic.pdf Basic and Dynamic Disks Basic disks have been around since the MS-DOS days and thus have the most compatibility. Dynamic Disks were introduced in Windows 2000 and thus have good compatibility in Windows. Compatibility may become a problem if you use a dynamic disk in Linux. Dynamic disks are supported in Linux however support is dependent on the distribution. Additional packages may need to be installed and the distribution may not support booting from a dynamic disk. Dynamic disks also offer additional features over basic disks. For example, they add a signature to the disk so that if the disk is moved from one computer to another Windows will detect the disk has been moved. Basic disks cannot be combined with other disks and thus features are limited to one disk. For example, an existing volume can be resized on a basic disk. In order to do this there must be contiguous space free at the end of the volume. If this is not there, the disk will need to be defragmented. Basic disks also support booting where dynamic disks only support booting when configured in certain ways. If you want to combine multiple disks together you require dynamic disks. Windows supports a one way conversion between basic and dynamic disks. Dynamic Disk Support Dynamic disks are supported in all Windows Server editions after Windows Server 2000. Client operating systems between XP and 7 require the high business level operating system but after that, all operating systems support dynamic disks. Combining Multiple Disks Dynamic disks allow multiple drives or the space from multiple drives to be combined together in order to create one volume. There are a number of different configurations supported. Spanned volume: A spanned volume combines the space from multiple drives together to form the one volume. This allows you to combine unused space into one volume, however it does not offer redundancy if a drive fails nor does it offer speed improvements. It also does not support booting. Mirrored Volume: This is when two disks have the same data on them. This allows the operating system to continue running if one disk fails. Unlike other dynamic disk configurations, mirrored volumes support booting of the operating system. Striped Volume: This volume takes disks of the same size and combines them together to form the one disk. The data is evenly distributed across the disks. It offers excellent read and write performance however does not offer any redundancy. It also does not support booting. RAID-5: This configuration requires 3 or more drives with the same amount of free space. The drives are combined into one volume. One drive is lost to parity, which is extra data, that means that volume will still keep running if one drive is lost. This volume gives fast read performance but slow write performance. It is available only in Server operating systems and does not support booting the operating system. How to download Windows 8.1 Free directly from Microsoft - Legal Full Version ISO - Easy
Windows 8.1 is a personal computeroperating system that was produced by Microsoft and released as part of the Windows NT family of operating systems. It was released to manufacturing on August 27, 2013, and reached general availability on October 17, 2013, about a year after the retail release of its predecessor. Windows 8.1 was made available as a free upgrade for retail copies of Windows 8 and Windows RT users via the Windows Store. Visible enhancements include an improved Start screen, additional snap views, additional bundled apps, tighter OneDrive (formerly SkyDrive) integration, Internet Explorer 11, a Bing-powered unified search system, restoration of a visible Start button on the taskbar, and the ability to restore the previous behavior of opening the user's desktop on login instead of the Start screen. Windows 8.1 also added support for such emerging technologies as high-resolution displays, 3D printing, Wi-Fi Direct, and Miracast streaming, as well as the ReFS file system.[5] Windows 8.1 received better positive reception than Windows 8, with critics praising the expanded functionality available to apps in comparison to 8, its OneDrive integration, along with its user interface tweaks and the addition of expanded tutorials for operating the Windows 8 interface. Despite these improvements, Windows 8.1 was still criticized for not addressing all digressions of Windows 8 (such as a poor level of integration between Metro-style apps and the desktop interface), and the potential privacy implications of the expanded use of online services. As of August 2018, 7.36% of Windows computers are running Windows 8.1.[6]
