Bergen is the Gateway to the Fjords of Norway! The best starting point to experience the most magnificent fjord landscape, with narrow fjords, glaciers, steep mountain sides, beautiful islands and spectacular waterfalls. The fjords are by far the biggest attraction in Scandinavia, and Bergen is by far the best starting point for exploring the nature visitors come from all over the world to see. Bergen is situated halfway between the two biggest fjords in Western Norway – the Sognefjord and the Hardangerfjord and it also has a fantastic coastline with thousands of large and small islands. From Bergen you can get to even the innermost reaches of the fjords and back again in one day. The fjord cruises are varying in length, and there are many organised fjord tours that guarantees a memorable experience. Towering cliffs overlooking small villages that cling impossibly to the shoreline as waterfalls seem to drop from the clouds… with its fascinating history and unparalleled natural beauty today's episode of PCW is all about the spectacular fjords of Norway - https://www.planetcruise.com/en/fjords-norway-cruise-deals?utm_medium=PlanetYouTube&utm_source=planetcruiseweeklyyoutube&utm_campaign=Norwayfjordsplanetcruiseweekly060918 MORE INFORMATION: https://www.planetcruise.com/en/fjords-norway-cruises?utm_medium=PlanetYouTube&utm_source=planetcruiseweeklyyoutube&utm_campaign=Norwayfjordsplanetcruiseweekly060918 Norway’s majestic natural drama leaves most visitors in awe. Vast craggy cliff faces loom over Fjords and modest fishing villages. The rugged country inland is dotted only by the occasional farm and 13th-Century church. Much of Norway lies inside the Arctic Circle so it’s the place to come to experience the midnight sun, polar nights and the aurora borealis. Unlike in Alaska, you're less likely to see glaciers and interesting wildlife and more likely to turn your gaze to dramatic waterfalls tumbling down verdant cliffs and mountainsides. Outdoors enthusiasts can get closer with kayaking or hiking trips. Smaller villages along the fjords function more as transit hubs for excursions out to scenic vistas, while Norway's cities give the opportunity to explore excellent museums on the country's maritime history and local culture, as well as shop for its well-regarded woollen products. Adventurous types might want to follow the coastline all the way north, into the Arctic, to spy on polar bears and abandoned mines and to seek out the midnight sun. With a wide variety of itinerary lengths and ship types, from mainstream to luxury and expedition, cruise travellers have a lot of choices to tailor their Norway cruises to their interests. And with hotel and food prices in Norway being sky high, a cruise can also be the most affordable way to see this northern land. We went on an epic (and yes, I say epic around 80 times in this video) two day kayaking and camping trip on the fjords in Norway. Specifically on the Nærøyfjord and Aurlandsfjord. Even though it was raining heavily the first day, it was a seriously awesome trip and I recommend anyone who's in Norway to do it. And no, there are no Orcas in the fjords, I wish. You can do a 2 or 3 day tour. We did the 2 day with Nordic Ventures. During this time I went offline for 2 days, to refresh my brain. I find it really important to do so every once in a while, to just put the phone away and be in the moment. Obviously filming a vlog takes a bit away from that, but we get this sick memory as a result :) Music from Epidemic Sound (http://www.epidemicsound.com) Videography & post-production: https://www.instagram.com/dshukin/ The guy on camera: https://www.instagram.com/rob.gryn/

This is a travel guide to Norway showing the top 10 places you must see if you’re visiting. These tips are from the perspective of a photographer, but the places are perfectly fine to visit if you’re a regular traveller as well. I’ve been fortunate enough to travel around in Norway almost contently for the past few years as a time-lapse photographer. That has given me extensive knowledge of what Norway has to offer, also outside the most touristic places. This list includes some true hidden gems you might not have heard of before. Norway is a fantastic country, and this list could’ve been much, much longer. But these are my favorites, and I’m sure you’ll love them too. The full list: 1. Senja 1. Varangerhalvøya 1. Femundsmarka 4. Loenvatnet 5. Valdres 6. Hardanger 7. Helgeland 8. Lofoten 9. Nærøyfjorden 10. Jettegrytene i Nissedal For more pictures of my adventures, visit my Instagram @morten.rustad (https://www.instagram.com/morten.rustad/) All photos and videos in the video are taken by me. Some of them are produced in cooperation with Turbin Film (http://www.turbinfilm.no).

This film shows Norway at its best. Only if the weather was fine, we switched the record button of our camera. The result is a touching documentary about this breathtaking country. The film shows primeval landscapes, fjords, glaciers, culture and animals in the typical clear, dust free lights of the northern hemisphere. The warm Gulf Stream creates a mild climate also above the arctic circle. So agriculture and live-stock breeding is possible where one expects strong winters and cold summers. At some of the slopes of the fjords even strawberries, cherries and apples grow. Only the hinterland in the far north is covered in deep snow during the winter until Easter. But the Sami and the reindeers are pretty well adapted to these conditions.

We’re going to take you on one of the most spectacular train rides in all of Europe: starting in Oslo, we’re heading cross-country through fascinating mountain terrain, passing lakes and rivers and waterfalls, and then by boat through a vast fjord, finally we will be arriving later in the day at the ancient capital of Norway the town of Bergen. This special trip is called Norway in a Nutshell. Showing you a big cross-section of the country in just one day. Please subscribe: http://bit.ly/2pmdyeu The scenery keeps getting more spectacular as we climb through the central regions of Norway, getting a little bit like Switzerland with tall mountains in the distance and glaciers, with lakes where the water is clear blue color. We change trains mid-way at Myrdal and board the Flam railway which is one of the most scenic rides in Europe. It travels about four miles from the mountain tops down through seven lush valleys to the waters below in the Sognefjord, Norway’s largest fjord. There we catch a boat to Bergen through the Sognefjord. There's lots of great scenery during the boat ride, with the mountains towering high above on both sides of this chasm. Road 63 through Valldal connects, Trollstigen and Geiranger, two of Norway's major attractions, to each other. Because of its natural beauty, involving both wild, alpine mountains, green fertile valleys and deep fjords, and impressive road constructions, the route was previously called the Golden Route. Now the stretch is named one of Norway's 18 National Tourist Route. The picturesque Fish Market in Bergen is one of Norway's most visited outdoors markets. The Fish Market sells seafood, fruit and vegetables. The Fish Market has a charming location in the heart of the city between the fjords and Bergen's 7 mountains. The Fish Market in Bergen has since the 1200s been a meeting place for merchants and fishermen. The ferry cruise on the world’s most famous fjord takes approx. one hour. Alongside the sheer mountain cliffs and the many waterfalls, you can see evidence of people who have lived and worked here in the form of many abandoned farms and shoreline smallholdings that will no doubt leave a lasting impression. The local legends are many and the history is there for you to see. Some of the farms were inhabited and operative until the 1950s and 60s. Spectacularly situated at the head of a 60-mile-long fjord, Oslo is Norway's biggest city yet it's easy to navigate with its compact historic core and great public transportation. Karl Johans Gate, the city's people-friendly main drag stretches from the train station to Royal Palace. Nearby, the harborfront hums with international shipping and a thriving cruise industry. Summer 2018, I'm going on an adventurous journey in Scandinavia. With a campervan I travel from Holland, via Sweden, to the north of Norway, meeting with some cool fishermen along the way. Pelagic pike fishing with Thorbjörn Buch, archipelago perch fishing with Martin Wasberg. Thanks for the good times guys! Visit to Flam June 5, 2013 at a Vision of the Seas Cruise from Copenhagen. Join my train trip from Flam to Myrdal and the stop at Kjosfossen watersfall. The Flåm Line (Norwegian: Flåmsbana) is a 20.2-kilometer (12.6 mi) long railway line between Myrdal and Flam in Aurland, Norway. A branch line of the Bergen Line, it runs through the valley of Flamsdalen and connects the mainline with Sognefjord. The line's elevation difference is 863 meters (2,831 ft); it has ten stations, twenty tunnels and one bridge. The maximum gradient is 5.5 percent (1:18), making it the steepest standard gauge railway in Europe. Because of its steep gradient and picturesque nature, the Flam Line is now almost exclusively a tourist service and has become the third-most visited tourist attraction in Norway. Construction of the line started in 1924, with the line opening in 1940. It allowed the district of Sogn access to Bergen and Oslo via the Bergen Line. Electric traction was taken into use in 1944; at first El 9 locomotives were used, and from 1982 El 11. Until 1991, the train connected with a ferry service from Flam to Gudvangen. In 1992, freight services were terminated, and due to low ticket prices and high operating costs, the line was nearly closed. In 1998, Flam Utvikling took over marketing and ticket sale for the line, prices were heavily increased and El 17 locomotives were introduced. The trains remain operated by the Norwegian State Railways (NSB), while the line itself is owned and operated by the Norwegian National Rail Administration.

✱ 4.892 Hotels in Norway - Lowest Price Guarantee ► https://booki.ng/2Gppzbu Travel video about destination Norway. Norway is a fascinating land in the extreme north of Europe where both magic and fairytales are very much alive. It has crystal clear lakes and rivers, snow covered mountains, idyllic fishing villages and endless beaches that are only accessible by boat.Although the Norwegian metropolis of Oslo is a modern city it continues to be inspired by the lively spirit of its past traders, fighting men and seafarers. Oslo is a harbour town that lies well sheltered at the end of a fjord and in the ninth century it was much appreciated by the Vikings who travelled throughout the known world, plundering much of it! Bergen’s main tourist attraction is the Bryggen district that originated in the middle of the fourteenth century when it was heavily influenced by the North German Hanseatic Office. The city not only boasts a fascinating history but also a number of music festivals and it was the birthplace of world famous composer Edvard Grieg. Trondheim is Norway’s historic capital in which the country’s kings have been crowned. The Nidaros Domkirke is the most splendid Gothic cathedral in northern Europe. It was built on the bones of Holy Olav. For several centuries it has been a place of pilgrimage and since the Middle Ages the Norwegian kings were crowned and also entombed within its walls. The small village of Nusfjord is located in front of a captivating backdrop of mountains. Due to its unique location it looks more like a high mountain village than a fishing settlement. It is both an historical as well as a cultural treasure. It is easy to understand why the descendants of the Vikings are so proud of their fascinating home in the extreme north.
