Assembling an old fashioned Personal Computer's CPU in India
A person at the computer factory assembles the computer's CPU. He plugs in the wires from mother board of the computer to hard drives and SMPS. He plugs in the wires with the CPU fan. One can see the floppy disk writer is being attached in the CPU. He plugs in a small speaker in the CPU. He assembles the VGA slots, USB slots, and 3.5mm slot into the CPU. The assembled CPU can be seen on the table. A person at the computer factory configures the hardware in the computer system while another person wraps the CPU with polythene. The CPU is being packed for sale in the carton with Vintron Elixir label and Intel pentium tag. Hunting for "Treasure" in an Old Computer
I have a bad habit of seeing old computers and collecting them. I do, however, try to find good uses for them. Sometimes the perfect usage comes up right away, other times a project will simmer in my mind for a long time. The five computers are I got are all models from Dell: 1xDimension 8300, 2xDimension 3000, 1xDimension 2350 and 1xOptiplex 755. Of the two Dimension 3000 systems, one has the old style board with the AGP and SATA artifacts. The other uses the newer Dimension B110/1110 board (with no SATA or AGP artifacts). The 755, 8300 and one of the two 3000s are known to work. After bringing in the first Dimension 3000 and testing it out, I got to thinking about what I'd use it for. And then it hit me--why not make a PXE (remote boot) server with all the software I use to test and repair computers? It'd be a lot nicer than always burning CDs, preparing flash drives or writing floppy drive images and then losing (or repurposing) them! Without thinking much about it, I figure that software packages offering the ability to boot to almost anything over PXE would be quite numerous. Turns out it's not quite that simple--but someone did make it happen in the form of the ERPXE project! http://erpxe.com/ ERPXE is set up on a Linux host (almost any popular distribution will do, i went with Debian x86 in pretty bare trim). You do need to be able to exercise fine grained control over the DHCP server on your network, so that computers can find the PXE server when asked to boot that way. Fortunately, DD-WRT is up to the challenge! Thus far, I've set up Damn Small Linux, FreeDOS, Hiren's Boot CD, Hiren's Mini Windows XP, and customized a copy of the FreeDOS boot image provided by the ERPXE developers to boot into GRC's SpinRite 6 hard drive test and recovery utility. Booting into a more general Linux distribution is a work in progress. I assure you that I know what virtualization is. I've used VMware workstation since it first hit the market, and currently use other virtualization programs as well. I might be old fashioned, but I like using actual physical computers for some tasks. Some reasons are better than others--just remember that you can ALWAYS take your frustrations out on a computer with a unique task and only that computer will end up going down. :-P That's better than throwing a server full of virtual machines out the window and losing them all when only one had gone wrong or annoyed you! A video about ERPXE is likely to be forthcoming. It'll probably be a while, until I can gather my thoughts and prepare what I want to say. Meanwhile, here's a (kinda) short video about retrieving an optical disc wedged between two optical drives in a Dell Dimension 2350. The computer itself is presently dead. If you are commenting via Google Plus (and you probably are), please take a moment to look at your Google Plus settings and make sure people can reply to your comments, especially if you wish to ask a question of someone! As of this writing in March 2015, you can visit http://www.youtube.com/account to adjust this setting. From there, choose "Edit On Google+". Cancel the dialog about "changing your name". Choose settings from the list on the left. Look for the 'Who can interact with you and your posts" category. Make sure both "Who can send you notifications?" and "Who can comment on your public posts?" are set to ANYONE. Also: don't "disable replies to this post" or similar. That's *annoying*. Save the settings and you're done. Thank you.

Gotye - Somebody That I Used to Know - Old School Computer Remix
. HP Scanjet 3C as the vocals. It lags a bit due to the fast paced vocals. In order for the stepper motor to play a note it has to be moving and with that large carriage it takes a few milli seconds before it can play a note. It doesn't sound like a lot of time but stretch that over a 4 minute song and voila...out of sync. Programming does help to compensate but it is not perfect. Amiga 600 Bass on left audio output and Guitar on right audio output Each audio channel was feed into an oscilloscope 2 Harddrives as the drums and cymbal Xylophone as the Xylophone (duh) my apologies glockenspiel Both the Harddrive and Xylophone are controlled by one PIC16F84A mircocontroller thanks to A1- Electronics Parts (Toronto) for the great deals on all those old parts that are getting harder to find

(スーパーマリオブラザーズ Sūpā Mario Burazāzu) is a 1985 platform video game initially developed by Nintendo EAD and published by Nintendo as a pseudo-sequel to the 1983 game Mario Bros. HMS Glamorgan - Computer Ship Of The Future (1967)
English Channel. Top shots of the guided missile destroyer battleship HMS Glamorgan at sea. In the control / computer room a man pulls out old-fashioned computer records from a large control cupboard; officers on the bridge look at dials and through binoculars. Various shots in steering, control and engine rooms as the ship moves along. On the flight deck sailors play hockey while others watch and cheer them on. A Navigator on deck looks through a sextant while another officer makes notes. A helicopter is moved from a hanger out onto the deck and prepared for takeoff; firemen in asbestos suits and helmets stand by with a hose; the chopper takes off. Three young men play guitars and banjos before a television camera in a tiny studio; we hear that the ship has its own closed circuit TV station; good shots of the filming; tape recording machines going round; picture being adjusted. Men in a mess room watch the performance on the television while they have a pint. Several shots of the sailors getting their rum rations. Various shots in the kitchens show food being prepared and served into the sailors mess tins; good canteen and catering shots (most of the food looks pretty unappetising). In the sick bay a sailor gets a shot in the arm from a Naval doctor. Several shots of the radar antennae on the ship and the men looking at the radar scanner screens in the control room. Men in protective gloves and hood loads shells in the gun turret; M/Ss of the huge guns on the ship being fired. Several shots show the count down for Seaslug missiles to be fired; men at control panels look at dials and radar screens; an officer counts down into a microphone (mute). Complicated boards of buttons show the location of the missiles, intercut with shots of the missiles moving into position by electronic instruction. The missiles move into the launchers on deck and are fired; men watch their progress on a radar screen. Another launcher moves into position; L/S of the ship as the missiles are fired. Note: on file is correspondence and information about HMS Glamorgan. Cuts exist - see separate record. FILM ID:419.04 A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ. EXPLORE OUR ONLINE CHANNEL, BRITISH PATHÉ TV. IBM Personal Computer 340 Startup
This is an IBM PC 340 that I bought off of eBay, and tweaked around with the internal hardware, and installed Windows 95 on. When it boots the old fashioned way, it seems to detect a memory error and completely unrecognized the extended memory. However, when I hit ESC at boot up, the whole 80MB RAM successfully is accounted for. The whole spec list for this machine: Intel Pentium 133MHz 80MB RAM 4GB CompactFlash to IDE "Hard Drive" 8x CD-ROM Sound Blaster 16 WavEffects ISA 3dfx Voodoo 2 Graphics Accelerator 3.5" Floppy Drive EMachines 17" CRT Monitor Gateway Stereo Speakers Windows 95 Rev. B All in all, works rather decently if you boot it up right.

Turning on a Bushpunk Computer with an Old House Key :-)
This unique and beautiful hand sculptured computer case is fashioned from fallen timber collected from the artist's property high in the hills of the chilly Granite Belt in SE Qld. It's been structurally designed in a true rustic outback Aussie style incorporating rough saw timber held together with good old fashioned and reliable Cobb and Co wire hitches. The pictured model is painted in bright and glossy Black and Red and looks amazing, and of course it'll look great in any colour combination you choose. The case has soft rubber feet to protect your desktop and weights about 10Kg, but the best and funest bit of this design is using the supplied old house key to turn it on, that part just never gets old, lol! *Price includes the handmade case and customised DVD drive only. I can also supply this case fitted out as a fully working computer system - please contact me for further details and pricing. Check out the artist's Facebook page to learn more about his unique art style and other products he's soon bringing to market... Bushpunk Art By Darryl: www.facebook.com/Bushpunk *** "Bushpunk" is the artist's Aussie-style take on Steampunk; it blends the rustic/durable materials and the "make do with what's at hand" style of the Aussie outback with the best of modern technology and finished in the bright glossy colours. :) ***

Computer Care Clinic died yesterday :(
Well, it finally happened. Yet another old-fashioned, fair, and honest all-American business down the toilet. My savings are drained, and I was forced to close the legendary Computer Care Clinic in Melbourne. Rent, utilities, insurance, supplies, and online competition have made our business model unrealistic. Walmart selling new laptops for $100 makes repairing your old computer silly. We considered lowering prices, but we wouldn't be able to meet our expenses. So on our 13th birthday, we locked the door for the last time. The GOOD news is our YouTube channel WILL STAY ALIVE! But we need YOUR help. Donations of anything via PayPal to [email protected] will keep an endless supply of free tips and tricks flowing forever. Anything you can spare would be appreciated. THANK YOU for your support! Here is the press release: Melbourne, FL, June 16, 2017 – Computer Care Clinic Suntree’s owner Chuck Graudins has announced the Suntree location will close to the public on its thirteenth birthday, July 1, 2017. Thousands of Brevard County residents patronized Computer Care Clinic since its opening on July 1, 2004. The company won five Best of Brevard Awards among others. Current changes in the economics of technology have forced its business model to become unprofitable. “People are beginning to use their smartphones instead of computers. When they break, it is often not cost-effective to repair them, so they buy new ones. People who still do use computers will often replace them with a low-cost model rather than pay someone to repair them. And offshore companies that provide remote technical support have priced us out of the market. We saw this coming, and fortunately we were prepared.” –Chuck Graudins, Melbourne FL Email, web browsing, games, and limited word processing capabilities are now available on smartphones, negating the need for a computer.
