We'll learn about the five major types of chemical reactions: synthesis, decomposition, synthesis, single replacement (also called single displacement) and double replacement (also called double displacement). We'll look at examples of each, so that you can classify them, figuring out what type they are. In a synthesis reaction, a compound is made from more simple materials. In a decomposition reaction, a compound breaks down into simpler elements or compounds. In a combustion reaction, a compound (usually with carbon, hydrogen, and sometimes oxygen) combines with oxygen to give carbon dioxide and water. In a single replacement (displacement) reaction, one element that is on its own displaces another element in aqueous solution, kicking it out. In a double replacement (displacement) reaction, the positive and negative ions in two ionic compounds switch places, causing a precipitate to form.

Ride-hailing platforms like Uber, Lyft, Didi Chuxing, and Ola are transforming urban mobility by connecting riders with drivers via the sharing economy. These platforms have achieved explosive growth, in part by dramatically improving the efficiency of matching, and by calibrating the balance of supply and demand through dynamic pricing. We survey methods for matching and dynamic pricing in ride-hailing, and discuss machine learning and statistical approaches used to predict key inputs into those algorithms: demand, supply, and travel time in the road network. The dynamic adjustment of prices ensures a reliable service for riders, and incentivizes drivers to provide rides at peak times and locations. Dynamic pricing is particularly important for ride-hailing, because pricing too low causes pickup ETAs to get very long, which reduces the efficiency of the platform and provides a poor experience for riders and drivers. Pricing and matching are intimately connected; we show that flexing wait time for riders during high-demand time periods can reduce the price variability caused by dynamic pricing. Product costs definition. Analyzing the definition of key terms often provides more insight about concepts. Product costs can be defined as – Costs that are capitalized as inventory because they produce benefits expected to have future value; include direct materials, direct labor, and overhead. Product costs are costs included in the production of inventory and they can be broken out into components of materials, direct labor, and overhead. When we think of inventory we often think of the direct material included in the inventory but the inventory consists largely of labor and overhead in addition to direct materials. Overhead includes items needed in the production process which cannot be applied directly to an item of inventory, or job, or process. Overhead can include small materials, supervisor salary, and depreciation on a factory. What is depreciation? How to calculate depreciation? Depreciation, amortization and CapEx tutorial. Overview of depreciation accounting (concept and application), and related topics such as accumulated depreciation, book value, residual value, historical cost, fixed assets, amortization, useful life, capital expenditures (CapEx) and capitalization. Intended for students and business people at both entry and advanced levels. Depreciation is the accounting process of allocating the cost of tangible assets to current expense in a systematic and rational manner in those periods expected to benefit from the use of the asset That last part of the sentence “in those periods expected to benefit from the use of the asset” is called the matching principle: expenses should be recorded during the period in which they are incurred. Depreciation is often referred to as a non-cash expense. The cash was spent when we bought the asset, depreciation allocates the value of the asset over the years in which we use it. As you can see from the journal entries in the video, depreciation is not about putting money aside for buying a new asset once the current one is at the end of its lifetime. Depreciation takes the amount you spent to buy the asset, and allocates a proportionate amount to each of the periods of its useful life. Hopefully the company that we are looking at generates very profitable products or services with the building, machine and truck that they are using, and the cash generated with selling these products and services can be used in the future to buy replacements for the assets that are at the end of their lifetime. What can you include in the value of the asset on the balance sheet when you buy it? This depends on the accounting rules that your company applies, which in turn depends on the country where you are located and whether you are accounting for tax or statutory purposes, or for reporting to the stock market. Generally, what you pay for the asset to the supplier, as well as transportation and installation cost can be capitalized. Capitalization means recording things as fixed assets on your balance sheet. It’s important to have consistency of method in the way you depreciate assets. A company could change from linear depreciation of its trucks to a depreciation based on units of production (which in the case of trucks would be mileage), if that presents a more fair and accurate representation of the value of the assets. However, you can’t be flipping back and forth between methods randomly every year, as that would adversely impact the year-over-year comparisons, and it would not come across as very systematic and rational per our definition earlier on. What is the difference between depreciation and amortization? The concept is the same, but depreciation and amortization are applied to different types of assets. You depreciate a tangible asset, and amortize an intangible asset. The threshold levels (minimum total spend) and capitalization criteria for intangible assets tend to be a lot more stringent than those for tangible assets. What is SEMANTIC MATCHING? What does SEMANTIC MATCHING mean? SEMANTIC MATCHING meaning - SEMANTIC MATCHING definition - SEMANTIC MATCHING explanation. Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. Semantic matching is a technique used in computer science to identify information which is semantically related. Given any two graph-like structures, e.g. classifications, taxonomies database or XML schemas and ontologies, matching is an operator which identifies those nodes in the two structures which semantically correspond to one another. For example, applied to file systems it can identify that a folder labeled “car” is semantically equivalent to another folder “automobile” because they are synonyms in English. This information can be taken from a linguistic resource like WordNet. In the recent years many of them have been offered. S-Match is an example of a semantic matching operator. It works on lightweight ontologies, namely graph structures where each node is labeled by a natural language sentence, for example in English. These sentences are translated into a formal logical formula (according to an artificial unambiguous language) codifying the meaning of the node taking into account its position in the graph. For example, in case the folder “car” is under another folder “red” we can say that the meaning of the folder “car” is “red car” in this case. This is translated into the logical formula “red AND car”. The output of S-Match is a set of semantic correspondences called mappings attached with one of the following semantic relations: disjointness (?), equivalence (?), more specific (?) and less specific (?). In our example the algorithm will return a mapping between ”car” and ”automobile” attached with an equivalence relation. Information semantically matched can also be used as a measure of relevance through a mapping of near-term relationships. Such use of S-Match technology is prevalent in the career space where it is used to gauge depth of skills through relational mapping of information found in applicant resumes. Semantic matching represents a fundamental technique in many applications in areas such as resource discovery, data integration, data migration, query translation, peer to peer networks, agent communication, schema and ontology merging. Its use is also being investigated in other areas such as event processing. In fact, it has been proposed as a valid solution to the semantic heterogeneity problem, namely managing the diversity in knowledge. Interoperability among people of different cultures and languages, having different viewpoints and using different terminology has always been a huge problem. Especially with the advent of the Web and the consequential information explosion, the problem seems to be emphasized. People face the concrete problem to retrieve, disambiguate and integrate information coming from a wide variety of sources.

Want to access 'The World's Best Business Training'? Go to: https://bizversity.com/YTWC1 What is a Supply Chain? There are quite a few links in a typical, literal chain aren't there? Similarly, in a supply chain, several suppliers, manufacturers and retailers form these links that must be traversed before products get to their customers. All aspects of the system must work smoothly to enable products to be delivered and profits to be maximised. Supply Chain Management systems usually help in this aspect. For example... Take Amazon's smooth supply chain system. The moment an order is placed, a worker in the warehouse gets notification of it and so begins the process of identifying the product, matching to its order and distributing the product to its rightful owner. Several innovative features like the 'Dash' feature, that allows customers to order household supplies at the touch of a button further improve the supply chain process as data gathered about them reveal the item's popularity and can predict when demand for them will rise and fall, in turn refining their supply chain further. Win $500 for your 401(k) and join our Fall Trading Contest today! https://www.wallstreetsurvivor.com/register?utm_source=Youtube&utm_medium=VideoLink&utm_campaign=FallContest A 401k is a workplace savings plan that allows you to build wealth by investing a portion of your pay check in assets such as stocks, mutual funds, or real estate investment trusts (REITs). It is also the primary way employers help their employees prepare for retirement, and has the added benefit of allowing an employee to invest part of their salary before taxes are taken out. While all 401k plans offer tax breaks to retirement savers, many other features of these retirement accounts differ, sometimes significantly, by employer. 401k plans are an effective way to shelter money from taxes because your contributions are deducted from your taxable income. So if you made $50,000 last year and invested $10,000 in your 401k, you’d only have to pay taxes on the remaining $40,000. This can be a great tactic, especially for people who live well within their means and can afford to save a big chunk of their salary. Thanks to all of you who support me on Patreon. You da real mvps! $1 per month helps!! :) https://www.patreon.com/patrickjmt !! Graph Theory - An Introduction! In this video, I discuss some basic terminology and ideas for a graph: vertex set, edge set, cardinality, degree of a vertex, isomorphic graphs, adjacency lists, adjacency matrix, trees and circuits. There is a MISTAKE on the adjacency matrix; I put a 1 in the v5 row and v5 column, but it should be placed in the v5 row and the v6 column. There are annotations pointing this out along with the corrected matrix!

Panasonic EVA 1 is the new and exciting cinema camera for under 10k. What does a cinema camera have that the much cheaper GH4 and GH5 doesn't have? In this video we’ll compare them and see why a cinema camera is preferred for professional video productions. The new Panasonic EVA1 is categorized as a cinema camera and not a DSLR nor a mirrorless camera. So what is a cinema camera? So far I haven’t found a clear definition, but there are expectations to a camera like this. Cinema cameras should have a super 35mm sensor or larger, a professional codec, minimum 10bit recording, high dynamic range and a professional lens mount. Eva1 has a 5.7K Super 35mm sensor (5720x3016), 14 stops of dynamic range, 4K 10 bit 4:2:2 recording, 4k 60fps at 8 bit, Full HD at 240fps, Dual sensitivity ISO at 800 & 2500 and an EF mount. Panasonic says that an firmware update will unlock 5,7k RAW external recording and 400mbps 10 bit recording soon. Cost of goods sold Cost of goods sold, sometimes abbreviated as COGS or called "cost of sales". Definitions The cost of goods sold (COGS) is any direct cost related to the production of goods that are sold or the cost of inventory you acquire to sell to consumers. It does not include overhead expenses related to the general operation of the business, such as rent. Cost of goods sold is reported on a company's income statement. Cost of goods sold that measures the direct costs incurred in producing products that were sold during a period. To like us on Facebook, visit https://www.facebook.com/accountingPlusS/ Subscriber: https://www.youtube.com/accountingplus The simplest way to Definition cost of goods sold is the cost of the merchandise that a retailer, distributor, or manufacturer has sold. The cost of goods sold is the cost of the merchandise that a retailer, distributor, or manufacturer has sold. Let me explain this definition, Let say a manufacturer has sold its merchandise to a wholesaler. Then the cost of the inventory for the Manufacturer become a cost of goods sold. But distributor or wholesaler who bought this merchandise. Then cost of the merchandise become a current asset for a wholesaler. When wholesaler will sell this merchandise to a retailer. Then the cost of the inventory for the wholesaler will become a cost of goods sold. This merchandise will become a current asset for the retailer. After understanding the core concept of cost of goods sold. Now we are going to look the nature of cost of goods sold the account. Whether it an asset account or Expense account or Revenue account. The cost of goods sold in an expense account. The cost of goods sold is reported on the income statement and can be considered as an expense of the accounting period. By matching the cost of the goods sold with the revenues from the goods sold, the matching principle of accounting is achieved. The important point in this definition is that when anybody sale its inventory, then cost of the inventory will become a cost of goods sold only. Otherwise, it will remain as a current asset. Cost of goods Sold Formula Cost of goods Sold example We have a lot of formulas to find Cost of goods sold. I will discuss with you one by one. Gross profit is equal to sale less Cost of goods sold. Sometimes, we use this formula to calculate the cost of goods sold. We know that Cost of goods sold is equal to sale less gross profit. Another formula, We use to calculate Cost of goods sold. In this formula, Cost of goods sold is equal to opening inventory plus purchase less purchase returns less purchase discount plus freight-in less ending Inventory. In the statement’s form, we will start with opening inventory plus with purchases and freight-in costs and less purchases returns and purchases discounts. When we will add net purchases with opening inventory the balance amount we will say the cost of goods available for sale. Then we less ending inventory with total and get cost of goods sold amount. After the understanding, the cost of goods sold definition and formulas. Now, I will explain this important concept with the help of examples. Let say a shopkeeper had bought 100 footballs for $30 each. One football player comes and bought 10 footballs for $50 each. If we will calculate the cost of sale (COGS) for Shopkeeper as follows. Sales (10 x 50) Less: Cost of goods sold (10 x 30) Gross profit When Shopkeeper will multiply 10 sales footballs with sale price $50. The shopkeeper will get sales amount $500. When shopkeeper will multiply 10 sale football with football cost $30. He will get the cost of goods sold amount $300. When sales amount $500 less cost of goods sold amount $300. We will get gross profit amount $200. When the shopkeeper sales football to football player then cost the football become an expense and charge to cost of goods sold. The remaining 90 football keep in inventory. We know that inventory is also part of current assets. The current assets are shown on balance sheet only. So, the remaining 90 football cost will show on the balance sheet of the shopkeeper only. Let me explain another example, XYZ a company has Beginning inventory $100,000, New purchases $450,000 and Ending inventory $35,000. Here is how to find the cost of goods sold for XYZ company. In this situation, we will add Beginning inventory $100,000 with New purchases $450,000 and less Ending inventory $35,000. We will get the cost of goods sold amount $515,000. Today, I will explain to you cost of goods sold definition, a core concept of cost of goods sold, and also explain with the help of examples.

Ten hours of uninterrupted pink noise. For relaxation at low level and masking of other noise in your direct environment. Pink noise randomized static which sounds like a combination of the ocean and a TV set. Television static is white noise by definition which is thinner sounding with less low frequencies than pink noise. Also referred to as Flicker Noise, Pink Noise has equal energy to all sound frequency octaves. That means more lows, or bass frequencies, that sound similar to the power of the natural ocean waves or a large waterfall. Experience the effects of Pink noise over time to understand what it is and its potential natural calming effect on the mind. Noise, even at a low level, seems to have the effect of masking more disruptive sounds in the listening environment. It has been used in offices to subdue the mechanical sounds of office equipment voices and phones. Pink Noise is electronically generated, yet seems to have a primal aesthetic. Perhaps it is similar to what a baby hears before birth. Moms use this for baby crying relief regularly. It is absolutely reminiscent of natural sounds: the ocean, a large waterfall, heavy rain and wind...all of which man has listened to since the dawn of time. Listeners use pink noise for meditation, is it masking or soothing or calling to a primal past? Perhaps all of the above. So many uses, I had not conceived. Thanks listeners! I do know that... Pink Noise is used by Audio Engineers to test speakers as the full spectrum sound can quickly reveal optimal speaker performance or speaker issues. Mixing consoles and audio software programs often have pink and white noise built in for testing signal through various signal paths of a board through the amplifiers and to the speakers. This brings us to headphone burn in. I have to admit, headphone burning was not on my mind when I made the Ten Hours of Pink Noise. I had heard of the concept. I figured audio engineers would find the clip useful as a playback through PA and recording gear not equipped with a signal generator. It wasn't long before the burn in comments started coming in. I have never deliberately set out to break my headphone in, but many do. A few manufacturers mention the technique. Headphones are meant to be used out of the box, There are listening enthusiasts who feel a worn in set of headphones sound better. By playing full spectrum pink noise for an extended period,..the burn in procedure is theoretically more even than playing back music. Check out the comment field and it's plain to see there are believers and non-believers of headphone burn in. I say, what can it hurt? Burn away. And thanks listeners for sharing headphone models and brands and listening observations. I'm going to listen to the commenters before my next high-end headphone purchase. On a technical note: The amount of spectrum energy decreases 10 dB/octave of frequency. This creates increased low frequency information in relation to mid-range and high frequencies. This is the first ever long play noise on DaleSnale channel and I thank YouTube for the 'Official' ranking. It's rough around the edges and preceding videos have improved in graphic quality as we move into the HD era. All the audio is generated and mixed at ElectricCanyon recording studio to ensure a pleasant listening or burning experience. There are several noise colors to choose from. Try them all or mix and match a recipe playing back more than one in multiple browser tabs. Happy Listening. Optimal matching problems are random variational problems widely investigated in the mathematics and physics literature. We discuss here the optimal matching problem of an empirical measure on a sample of iid random variables to the common law in Kantorovich-Wasserstein distances, which is a classical topic in probability and statistics. Two-dimensional matching of uniform samples gave rise to deep results investigated from various view points (combinatorial, generic chaining). We study here the case of Gaussian samples, first in dimension one on the basis of explicit representations of Kantorovich metrics and a sharp analysis of more general log-concave distributions in terms of their isoperimetric profile (joint work with S. Bobkov), and then in dimension two (and higher) following the PDE and transportation approach recently put forward by L. Ambrosia, F. Stra and D. Trevisan. See more on this video at https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/research/video/pacific-northwest-probability-seminar-optimal-matching-of-gaussian-samples/

We’re given very little guidance on how to choose our partners and tend to leave it to that mysterious force we know as ‘instinct’. However, it truly pays to be a little more rational in this area and work out how our instincts operate and why they push us towards some people and away from others. The Romantic answer is that our instincts naturally guide us to individuals who are kind and good for us. Love is a sort of ecstasy that descends when we feel ourselves in the presence of a benign and nourishing soul, who will answer our emotional needs, understand our sadness and strengthen us for the hard tasks of our lives. In order to locate our lover, we must let our instincts carry us along, taking care never to impede them through pedantic psychological analysis and introspection or else considerations of status, wealth or lineage. Our feelings will tell us clearly enough when we have reached our destiny. To ask someone with any degree of rigour why exactly they have chosen a particular partner is – in the Romantic world-view – simply an unnecessary and offensive misunderstanding of love: true love is an instinct that accurately and naturally settles on those with a capacity to make us happy.…” You can read more on this and other subjects on our blog, here: https://goo.gl/IkAGvy MORE SCHOOL OF LIFE Our website has classes, articles and products to help you think and grow: https://goo.gl/1y98gz Watch more films on RELATIONSHIPS in our playlist: http://bit.ly/TSOLrelationships Do you speak a different language to English?
