However, pricing decisions inconsistent with a firm’s competitive strategy can be dangerous, which is why companies should address the topic with much caution and attention. There are three important components we need to distinguish in this process. The amount a product costs to be produced, the price customers pay to buy the product, and the value they acquire from the product. If a company aims at cost leadership, then the focus will be costs (trying to keep them as low as possible). The company must offer a price slightly lower than the one offered by competitors. Conversely, if a firm’s strategy is differentiation, then the critical factor will be the value delivered to customers. Costs are not that important, as companies offering a differentiated product can charge more. So, pricing must be coherent with competitive strategy, although sometimes it is tempting to adjust prices to stimulate short-term gains of market share and increases of sales. Top-level managers have to stay focused on the big picture and make coherent decisions in line with the firm’s long-term strategy.

In this video I explain what happens when the government controls market prices. Price ceilings are a legal maximum price and price floors are a minimum legal price. Make sure that you can draw each of them on a demand and supply graph and identify if there is a shortage or a surplus. Keep in mind that your teacher may use the word "binding" to describe the situation where the price control has an effect on the market. Labor Markets and Minimum Wage: Crash Course Economics #28

10:38
How much should you get paid for your job? Well, that depends on a lot of factors. Your skill set, the demand for the skills you have, and what other people are getting paid around you all factor in. In a lot of ways, labor markets work on supply and demand, just like many of the markets we talk about in Crash Course Econ. But, again, there aren't a lot of pure, true markets in the world. There are all kinds of oddities and regulations that change the way labor markets work. One common (and kind of controversial one) is the minimum wage. The minimum wage has potential upsides and downsides, and we'll take a look at the various arguments for an against it. Crash Course is on Patreon! Its founder and director Walter Gropius attracted the leading creative figures of the era, including Hannes Meyer, Mies van der Rohe, Lyonel Feininger, Oskar Schlemmer, Wassily Kandinsky, Paul Klee, László Moholy-Nagy, Anni Albers, Josef Albers and Gunta Stölzl. Today, Bauhaus is considered the birthplace of Modernism and has become a byword for sleek, functional design. Founded in Weimar in 1919, the Bauhaus school moved to Dessau in 1925 and then to Berlin, where it was forced to shut in 1933 after Hitler seized power. Most of its artists, architects and visionaries emigrated, fanning out and spreading the Bauhaus doctrine around the world. Filmmaker Lydia Ranke and her team traveled the world to make the three-part documentary bauhausWORLD. Alongside the Bauhaus sites of Weimar, Dessau and Berlin, they visited cities such as Tokyo, Amman, Tel Aviv, New York, Chicago, Mexico City and Medellín, talking to experts from architects Norman Foster and Tatiana Bilbao to architecture critic Mark Wigley, furniture designer Yinka Ilori and fashion designer Kasia Kucharska. "The Code" is the first part of bauhausWORLD. The search for the secret of Bauhaus’s enduring success leads all the way to Japan - a journey illustrating how the forced closure of the school that drove the movement into exile served to spread its philosophy around the world. _______ DW Documentary gives you knowledge beyond the headlines. Blood Transfusion Procedure Nursing | Reaction Types, Complications (Hemolytic/Febrile) NCLEX

25:33
Blood transfusion procedure nursing lecture: transfusion reaction (hemolytic, febrile, allergic, GvHD) and complications for NCLEX. What is a blood transfusion? It’s where the nurse transfuses a patient with new red blood cells via a venous access. It is most commonly donated red blood cells. WHY do patients need blood transfusions? Because the patient is low on RBCs (erythrocytes). This may be due to anemia (body not producing enough substances to maintain or produce red blood cells like in renal failure, cancers etc.) or the patient has experienced excessive blood loss (surgery or trauma) What's the importance of RBCs? Our body can't function without them very well! A patient will start to look pale, feel weak, experience shortness of breath with activity, and tachycardia (heart has to work harder) etc. Red blood cells, with the help of the protein hemoglobin, carries oxygen it receives from the lungs throughout our body and helps remove the CO2 built up in our body to the lungs to be exhaled. The body's organs need fresh oxygen to function. When is a patient usually transfused? It depends on what is going on with the patient, but recent guidelines by the American Association of Blood Banks recommends transfusing blood when a hemoglobin levels fall 7-8 g/dL. What are normal hemoglobin level? It varies depending on gender: Men: 14 to 18 g/dL Women: 12 to 16 g/dL Nurse’s Responsibilities: as a nurse working in a hospital transfusing blood is VERY common! You need to know this for not only NCLEX but the job as well. Most hospitals only allow registered nurses to transfuse blood. The nurse will prepare the patient for the transfusion (draw labs, obtain informed consent etc.), transfuse and monitor the patient during the transfusion for a transfusion reaction. Please see the video for in depth details on the blood transfusion procedure. We cover what an environment is and some of the benefits of training within a simulated environment. We cover what we ultimately want our agent to do and how crafting a reward function incentivizes the agent to do just that. And lastly, we introduce the need to choose a way to represent a policy—how we want to structure the parameters and logic that make up the decision-making part of the agent. Cellular Respiration and the Mighty Mitochondria

07:49
Explore how ATP is made in 3 steps of aerobic cellular respiration with the Amoeba Sisters! This also compares this process to photosynthesis and introduces ATP structure. This video has a handout here: http://www.amoebasisters.com/handouts.html We appreciate feedback on our videos and pin clarifications on our videos if needed. We do wish we had been more clear stating that the Krebs cycle "'indirectly" requires oxygen" instead of just stating it "requires oxygen" ---as we do not want to imply that oxygen is a reactant in the Krebs cycle (Citric Acid Cycle). While oxygen is not a reactant for the Krebs Cycle, the oxidation steps of the Krebs Cycle cannot occur without the presence of oxygen. (Thus, the Krebs Cycle is considered an aerobic process) Reference Source: OpenStax https://cnx.org/contents/[email protected]:[email protected]/Oxidation-of-Pyruvate-and-the- 36 ATP? 38 ATP? The big thing we want to emphasize, as we do in the video, is this number is an estimate. It's likely not even as high as those numbers everytime. And regarding the video note about how ATP may need to be used to shuttle in NADH from glycolysis---here's a question answered by Miller and Levine that you may find helpful: http://www.millerandlevine.com/ques/atp.html Support us on Patreon! http://www.patreon.com/amoebasisters Our FREE resources: GIFs: http://www.amoebasisters.com/gifs.html Handouts: http://www.amoebasisters.com/handouts.html Comics: http://www.amoebasisters.com/parameciumparlorcomics Connect with us! SPREE Project: Tzruya Chebach, Measuring the Effects of Servicizing

09:20
Servicizing or Product Service Systems (PSS) is a transaction where customer needs is achieved by selling function of the product rather than product per se (car sharing, carpet leasing, printing services). Servicizing systems comprise the core of SPREE - Servicizing Policy for Resource Efficient Economy – project, funded by the European Commission (FP7). Tzruya Chebach from Tel Aviv University, provided a lecture in the framework of "Services for Sustainability" Conference in Brussels (April 2014). She discusses the possibilities of measuring sustainability impact of switching to Product Service Systems (PSS) and presents SPREE’s approach to measuring decoupling.

(Policy induced) Diffusion of Innovations - A demand-supply Model based on Cournot Competition

02:58
Download: http://www.openabm.org/model/2609 The model integrates both demand and supply in a single model. The underlying demand function is the crucial element that links both sides. It is determined by consumer´s learning status, the awareness for the new technology, and consumer´s individual price thresholds, their willingness-to-pay. Diffusion proceeds in our model, if interactions distribute awareness (Epidemic effect) and rivalry reduces the market price (Probit effect). Endogeneity is given due to the fact that consumer awareness as well as their willingness-to-pay drives supply-side rivalry. Vice versa, rivalry determines pricing and therefore consumer adoption and awareness. Market entry and exit decisions as well as quantity and price settings are driven by the underlying demand function. We utilize Cournot competition to calculate competitive dynamics. Suppliers compete on the quantity of output they will produce. Firms ... •produce a homogeneous product, there is no product differentiation. •do not cooperate, there is no collusion. •have market power, each output decision affects market price. •define their output quantity simultaneously. •try to maximize profits. •have the same prerequisites, e.g. cost structures (variable and fixed costs). 12 sub-processes sequentially divide the simulation procedure. Policy outcomes are evaluated in terms of effectiveness and efficiency. Effectiveness is primarily measured via acceleration (adoption-speed) and saturation effects (adoption-level). An effective policy initiates consumers to adopt earlier and/or induces consumers to adopt who would not adopt without the intervention(s). On the contrary, efficiency measures the trade-off between policy effectiveness and associated costs. For instance, policies may boost adoption-speed and -level remarkably, but produce extraordinary additional costs. Direct policy costs (e.g. monetary grant) as well as welfare effects in terms of consumer surplus and supplier surplus are evaluated.

Become a PRO: NPIC's Product Research Online (NPRO)

37:28
Take a tour of the new pesticide product search tool called 'NPIC Product Research Online' (NPRO). Located on the NPIC website, the tool allows users to search for federally registered pesticide products by several criteria. Dynamic searching allows you to narrow the search results, and results include links to the most recent federal product label. - Find products registered for leafhoppers on peppers - Narrow that down to products with signal word = caution, or formulation = Ready to use solution Designed for professionals, the system requires some knowledge of pesticide terminology, including use sites, chemical synonyms, and pest names. State registration data are not included. Distributor labels, restricted-use products and cancelled products are included. The data are updated weekly via the EPA Pesticide Product Information System (PPIS) and Pesticide Product Label System (PPLS). Presenters: Sean Ross and Amy Hallman, Oregon State University Try NPRO out now at: http://npic.orst.edu/NPRO/ Terms of Use and Deletion Policy: http://bit.ly/PolicY

SPREE Project:Moshe Givoni, Servicizing Policy Packages

20:07
Servicizing or Product Service Systems (PSS) is a transaction where customer needs is achieved by selling function of the product rather than product per se (car sharing, carpet leasing, printing services). Servicizing systems comprise the core of SPREE - Servicizing Policy for Resource Efficient Economy – project, funded by the European Commission (FP7). Moshe Givoni from Tel-Aviv University provided a lecture in the framework of "Services for Sustainability" Conference in Brussels (April 2014). He spoke about why and how Policy Packages can be used to advance servicizing.
