Young Earth - One True God - Christian Progressive Rock

10:00
Young Earth is a progressive christian rock band based in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Young Earth was formed in 2002 by keyboardist Bill Rebsamen and drummer Kirk Gaither. Soon we will begin the debut album for Young Earth. We've all been busy with our jobs and families. Drummer Kirk Gaither recently completed installation of his own recording studio built around his huge drumkit. Now we are finishing up side projects and will soon be upgrading our Pro Tools Rig. 2005: Guitarist David Wallimann has relocated to Chattanooga, Tennessee and joined the band Glass Hammer. David will still work with Young Earth via exchange of internet files. We are proud of you David - Congratulations on getting married too! 2004: Young Earth joined 10 other Christian Prog Rock bands for the international release of CPR Volume 2 featuring tracks from former Spock's Beard frontman Neal Morse (with Dream Theater's Mike Portnoy on Drums), guitarist David Bainbridge of the band Iona, Glass Hammer and new artist's Orphan Project and Revelation Project. The 2003 release of CPR Volume 1 included members of the well known progressive rock bands Kansas and Yes. Reviews of Young Earth's track CPR Volume 2: "One of the best tunes comes from Young Earth. "One True God" is the rocker on the CD, with a chorus that gets into your brain and doesn't let go. Keys and guitar, harmonies, tasty bridge: It's all here." Appearing in the Michigan City, IN News Dispatch & The Midwest Beat "Sometimes the Christian messages are subtle (instrumentals "Over the Waters" from Iona guitarist/keyboardist Dave Bainbridge and "Quantum Fizzix" by Scott Rice), and other times not so much (the epic "One True God" by the Christian band Young Earth)." Sea of Tranquility Reviews of CPR Volume 2: Sea of Tranquility: Various Artists: CPR Volume 2 When the first two-disc CPR project - short for Christian Progressive Rock - was released in 2004, it featured 18 artists performing prog music that celebrated their Christian connections. Band Members: Chuck Law - Vocals, David Wallimann - Guitars, Bill Rebsamen - Keyboards, Kirk Gaither - Drums Additional Musicians: Jeremy Wilfong - Guitar Steve Lockridge - Guitar Aaron Martin - Bass http://www.youngearth.net/

What Is The Best Progressive Rock Song Of All Time?

Initially termed "progressive pop", the style was an outgrowth of psychedelic bands who abandoned standard pop traditions in favour of instrumentation and compositional techniques more frequently associated with jazz, folk, or classical music. Additional elements contributed to its "progressive" label: lyrics were more poetic, technology was harnessed for new sounds, music approached the condition of "art", and the studio, rather than the stage, became the focus of musical activity, which often involved creating music for listening, not dancing. Prog is based on fusions of styles, approaches and genres, involving a continuous move between formalism and eclecticism. Due to its historical reception, prog's scope is sometimes limited to a stereotype of long solos, overlong albums, fantasy lyrics, grandiose stage sets and costumes, and an obsessive dedication to technical skill. While the genre is often cited for its merging of high culture and low culture, few artists incorporated literal classical themes in their work to any great degree, and only a handful of groups purposely emulated or referenced classical music. The genre coincided with the mid 1960s economic boom that allowed record labels to allocate more creative control to their artists, as well as the new journalistic division between "pop" and "rock" that lent generic significance to both terms. Prog saw a high level of popularity in the early-to-mid 1970s, but faded soon after. Conventional wisdom holds that the rise of punk rock caused this, but several more factors contributed to the decline.[9] Music critics, who often labelled the concepts as "pretentious" and the sounds as "pompous" and "overblown", tended to be hostile towards the genre or to completely ignore it. After the late 1970s, progressive rock fragmented in numerous forms. Some bands achieved commercial success well into the 1980s (albeit with changed lineups and more compact song structures) or crossed into symphonic pop, arena rock, or new wave. Early groups who exhibited progressive features are retroactively described as "proto-prog". The Canterbury scene, originating in the late 1960s, denoted a subset of prog bands who emphasised the use of wind instruments, complex chord changes and long improvisations. Rock in Opposition, from the late 1970s, was more avant-garde, and when combined with the Canterbury style, created avant-prog. In the 1980s, a new subgenre, neo-progressive rock, enjoyed some commercial success, although it was also accused of being derivative and lacking in innovation. Post-progressive draws upon newer developments in popular music and the avant-garde since the mid 1970s. SLEEPERS AWAKE - The Fulcrum

06:34
http://www.facebook.com/SleeperRock "The Fulcrum" by Sleepers Awake, taken from our new release Transcension. Released on June 17th. A gargantuan 70-minute triumph for ingenuity and artful intensity, Transcension adds great depth and intrigue to the sound Sleepers Awake established on their debut. Although there are still superficial debts owed to the pioneering likes of Tool and Opeth, not to mention revered prog greats like Pink Floyd and Rush, the songs that combine to form this imperious musical journey boast an idiosyncratic and absorbing personality that is both unique and mesmerising. Elements of classic rock, sludge metal and even left-field art rock and ambience collide again and again, resulting in a devastating but irresistible hybrid that fans of thought-provoking and soulful heavy music will find impossible to ignore. A mind-bending and magnificent concept piece that tells the tale of 'The Augur' and his struggle with higher forces that veers off through magical worlds full of fantastic creatures and surreal imagery while exploring the dizzying depths of existential contemplation, the new Sleepers Awake album is a work of laudable substance, intelligence and creative bravery. Add to that the fact that this band kick a serious amount of unholy metal ass along the way, and it seems beyond doubt that these young Americans will soon be winning over a huge international fan base, as vacuous pop culture drives a generation of diehard music lovers to embrace more challenging and perverse aural thrills. Time to rub your eyes, unblock your ears and surrender to the sound of enlightenment, catharsis and joy rendered in three sonic dimensions... IN HONOR OF MY ALL TIME MUSIC MENTOR ANTHONY GEORGE BANKS - Soren SORENSEN aka Dorian Gray - https://www.facebook.com/doriangraymusic /// http://www.sorenland.com Exclusives images by TEAMROCK.COM - http://www.teamrock.com in association with Classic Rock Magazine - https://www.youtube.com/user/classicrockmag08 Genesis keyboardist to accept honour at this week’s Progressive Music Awards ceremony Genesis keyboardist Tony Banks has been named the Prog God for 2015, and he’ll accept the honour at this year's Progressive Music Awards in London. The Prog God Award, presented by Orange Amplification, is given to the greatest innovators in the genre. Rick Wakeman, Ian Anderson and Peter Gabriel are the previous recipients. Banks says: “I’m not normally picked out for this recognition – in fact, I’ve spent my entire career trying not to be noticed. Now someone has seen through my clever disguise. “I’m really gratified to get this award. It’s nice to know people appreciate the music I’ve helped create.” He adds: “Being in such rarified company is also something I’m delighted about – Rick, Ian and Peter are probably the first people you think of when you mention the bands they’re most associated with. “But I see myself as representing the backroom boys of prog, who are often overlooked.” Prog editor Jerry Ewing says: “Classic rock and heavy metal have the guitarist, but for progressive music the keyboard player often fulfils the role of hero – and none come more heroic than Tony Banks. “His keyboards have always been the bedrock of the Genesis sound. His solo career too has displayed a fine combination for his sense of pomp and grandiosity on the one hand, and delicate musical turn of phrase on the other. “I can't think of a more fitting recipient of the Prog God Award.” Late Yes bassist Chris Squire will also be honoured at the gala night as the Virtuoso Award has been renamed in his memory. Prog Rock Guitar Solo Improvisation (With EHX Pedals) - Josh Middleton

08:21
You can buy my prog solo album here https://joshmiddleton.com/shop/ Tried to channel a bit of David Gilmour doing some improvising. Improvised over a pretty prog rock / classic rock / blues backing for a nice change (I mostly listen to Pink Floyd and Rush and barely any metal). Admittedly, Gilmour doesn't do any sweep picking but that's just kind of happens when I play... Using the Electro Harmonix 'Small Stone' and 'Neo Clone' phaser and chorus pedals respectively. Also loving the tone from the EMG 57/66 pickups (66 in the neck for all the leads) Other links: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/joshmiddletonofficial Twitter: http://twitter.com//joshsylosis Instagram: http://instagram.com/joshsylosis

Band: Adam Grant ~ Vocals Save Addario ~ Guitars Mike Enort ~ Bass Guitar/ Vocals Paul Igoe ~ Drums "We say Deadly Circus Fire are one of the best band in prog metal right now." METAL HAMMER "Deadly Circus Fire are one of the most striking young prog metal band to come on the scene in the past couple of years." CLASSIC ROCK "It's just a matter of time before those guys are ready to swiftly rise through the rank of the British progressive metal." PROG MAGAZINE "Imagine the hauntingly heavy sound of Tool, mixed with a splash of Mastodon, the awkwardness of Marilyn Manson and the twisting vocals of fellow circus freaks Karnivool and you've got yourself nonconformist Deadly Circus Fire." ALTSOUND "It's like a car crash, you can't take the eases off them." HAMMERFEST III "Deadly Circus Fire are much more than their blood spattered face painted image may have you believe. Their Tool flavored progressive metal is done to near perfection." CACK BLABBATH Tour Dates 11. Nov 2013 Southend on Sea, United Kingdom, HINNERYS 13. Nov 2013 Berlin, Germany, C CLUB 14. Romantic Warriors - Trailer - Progressive Rock Documentary

09:52
DVD on sale at http://www.ProgDocs.com. Like this on FB http://on.fb.me/eiBbvc. 10' Trailer of documentary. Inspired by classical progressive rock bands of 40 years ago such as Gentle Giant, King Crimson, Emerson Lake and Palmer, and Pink Floyd, young bands of today have transformed progressive music into something new. Ignored by today's music industry but empowered by the tools of the Internet, these young bands are trying to find their audience while crafting a personal sound as an alternative to mainstream music. DVD on Sale at http://www.progdocs.com (Home Video Sales) and at http://www.zeitgeistmedia.tv (Institutional Sales) This feature length documentary film highlights ten contemporary progressive music bands: Cabezas De Cera - Avant/Fusion (Mexico), Cheer-Accident - Avant/ Experimental (USA), Deluge Grander - Symphonic (USA), D.F.A. - Jazz/Fusionl (Italy), Karmakanic - Symphonic (Sweden), La Maschera Di Cera - Symphonic (Italy), Oblivion Sun - Symphonic (USA),Phideaux - Symphonic (USA), Qui - Jazz Canterbury (Japan) and Rob Martino - Chapman Stick Player (USA).  These musicians tell their stories, influences, creative process, challenges they face, and how they sell music in the era of Internet downloads. While the music's international, cross-cultural appeal receives due coverage, the Eastern United States and the Baltimore-Philadelphia region, specifically, are acknowledged as the cradle of prog's post-1970s artistic renaissance.   This film is also about the passion and spirit of progressive music genre, its music, its festivals, and the ecosystem that supports it.

Gentle Giant's Derek Shulman On The Mentality of Prog Music Fans

09:53
Gentle Giant's Derek Shulman On The Mentality of Prog Music Fans Prog fans don't like the music they play, they devour it. There's nothing fair-weather about a true Prog fan. I remember playing some early Genesis on a radio show I was syndicating in the mid-80's only to receive an angry letter from a fan saying I mentioned Phil Collins more often than his predecessor Peter Gabriel and while I was at it stop playing anything from Yes' “90125” and that Gentle Giant was miles a head of both of them. Prog fans seem to take it to heart more maybe – the passion is certainly there I should know I'm one of them. I asked Derek Shulman if he felt that kind of passion from the fans. (Clip 27) Gentle Giant won the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2015 at Prog Awards. We chatted about that? (Clip 28) Gentle Giant's “Three Piece Suite” a compilation of their first three albums, their 1970 self titled debut, “Acquiring The Taste” from the following year and 1972's “Three Friends.” It also features “Freedom's Child” a tune that's been in the vaults since the early 70's. I asked Derek Shulman something I've asked everyone I've ever interviewed and it seems especially topical with the release of “Three Piece Suite.” Knowing what you know now what advice would you whisper in your younger 23-year-old self recording that first Gentle Giant album? “Three Piece Suite” is available now. Deep Feeling Deep Feeling 1971 UK, Progressive Rock

41:19
Deep Feeling - Deep Feeling 1971 (UK, Progressive Rock) album from London ( not to be confused with the similar group of Worcester brumbitovoy of 60s with Jim Capaldi, Luther Grosvenor, Dave Meredith , etc.) ... The group was established session musicians who helped in the studio different teams , Led Zeppelin, for example ... Album - go unnoticed early progressive classic . Because it is not on the label inexperienced band released this album - DJM Records (Dick James Music Records) was a " pop " by Elton John in the lead role ... Then publicity LP is not received. When compared to his contemporaries , the musical is perhaps closer to the Beggar's Opera. At the moment the song Lucille ( cover Little Richard) performed Deep Feeling " herded " on Rock FM ...
