Geo4NIEM Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA) (Vessel Position/Track)

05:26
Maritime Domain Awareness is an inter-agency and international effort to detect and prevent threats at sea or in any navigable waterway. The NIEM Vessel Position exchange from the Maritime Domain supports the effective understanding of anything associated with global maritime that could impact the United States' security, safety, economy, or environment. NIEM facilitates this understanding through effective, timely sharing of vital, secure information among many key partners by representing vessels, people, cargo, and maritime locations and activities. For more information on Geo4NIEM Maritime Domain Awareness, please visit NIEM.gov.

ARTEMIS: infrared search and track system, your eyes on the sea - Thales

01:50
Naval commanders have to keep their eyes on the sea at all times to protect their vessels against a whole array of threats. They need to have a 360° view of their ship's surroundings day and night. In coastal waters, ARTEMIS supplements the capabilities of ship radar systems by detecting targets that radar has difficulty classifying, like fast-moving threats making use of coastline features for cover, and stealthy targets with a low radar cross-section. Ships equipped with ARTEMIS are able to detect this kind of threat faster, giving them extra time to initiate countermeasures and protect the platform and the fleet. The Vessel-ID System investigation on the International Space Station demonstrated the ability for a space-based radio receiver to track a ship’s Automatic Identification System (AIS) signal, the marine equivalent of the air traffic control system. Since being turned on in 2010, Vessel-ID has been able to relay more than 400,000 ship position reports from more than 22,000 ships in a single day, proving a quantum leap in the ship tracking ability of coast guards around the world. This ability, coupled with multiple AIS tracking satellites launched since, is already making travel among the waves safer for thousands of ships around the globe.

5 AMAZING Ship Launch Videos

03:19
Looking for some engineering gift ideas? Check them out : https://www.engineeringworldchannel.com/engineering-gifts/ About Ship Launch : Ship launching is the process of transferring a vessel to the water. It is a naval tradition in many cultures, dating back thousands of years. It has been observed as a public celebration and a solemn blessing. Ship launching imposes stresses on the ship not met during normal operation, in addition to the size and weight of the vessel, and it represents a considerable engineering challenge as well as a public spectacle. The process also involves many traditions intended to invite good luck, such as christening by breaking a sacrificial bottle of champagne over the bow as the ship is named aloud and launched. There are three principal methods of conveying a new ship from building site to water, only two of which are called "launching." The oldest, most familiar, and most widely used is the end-on launch, in which the vessel slides down an inclined slipway, usually stern first. With the side launch, the ship enters the water broadside. The third method is float-out, used for ships that are built in basins or dry docks and then floated by admitting water into the dock. In all cases, heavy chains are attached to the ship and the drag effect is used to slow the vessel once afloat, until tugboats can move the hull to a jetty for fitting out. -_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- Also don’t forget to check out our engineering store, where we have very unique and innovative tools from around the world to make you more productive and efficient at your work! New Spacecraft Tracking Ships, Fires and Greenhouse Gases | Watch this Space - Episode 4

02:08
"Watch this Space" is a little experiment by Dr Stuart Grey of University College London to try and show people what is going on in Earth orbit. In this episode we cover the satellite launches from the end of June 2016. All of the object orbits are taken from real tracking data (from http://www.space-track.org) so every single coloured dot is a real object. The positions and motion of the objects relative to the Earth are to scale but each objects size is greatly exaggerated (otherwise there would be nothing to see!). Reach me at: my website: www.stugrey.com twitter: @stugrey The spacecraft covered this time are: 4 New LEMURs 4 spacecraft were added to the LEMUR 2 constellation on 22nd June 2016. These were the excellently named: BRIDGEMAN (ID:41595) DRMUZZ (ID:41596) NATE (ID:41597) CUBECHEESE (ID:41598) CARTOSAT 2C CARTOSAT 2C (ID:41599) is an Indian remote sensing satellite launched on 22nd June 2016. The Underwater Cemetery That NASA Doesn't Want People to Know About

05:06
For the past six decades, countries from all over the world have been exploring outer space. There are plenty of things that we don't know about what lies beyond Earth's atmosphere. Between the black holes, the other galaxies and the supernovas, it is no wonder we are sending ships to space to see what mysteries will unfold. Have you ever wondered what happens to spaceships and satellites when they are no longer necessary or operable? These pieces of machinery weight hundreds of tons. Where do objects this large go when we no longer need them? There is a place that they all go to. The underwater cemetery that NASA doesn't want people to know about actually exists out in the middle of the ocean. Just beyond New Zealand is a stretch of ocean known as the South Pacific Ocean Uninhabited Area (SPOUA). Most nations around the world use the same name for the stretch of ocean, and they also know it as the "spaceship cemetery." For nearly 50-years, this had been the final resting place for spacecraft from various countries. There is a reason that experts have chosen this area to lay spacecrafts to rest. The coordinates are 43°34'48" S, 142°43'12" W. It is also known as Point Nemo, named after Nemo for 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. More importantly, it is Earth's sole oceanic point of inaccessibility. SPOUA is the single point in the ocean that is the furthest away from land on all sides. It is located between Ducie Island of the Pitcairn Islands, Motu Nui of the Easter Islands, and Maher Island off Antarctica. The stretch of sea is located over 1,600 miles from shore. This makes it the perfect place to send them out of commission spaceships because people don't travel through these waters due to the distance from land. This is important because nobody wants to risk human life. While this area is often clear of ships, there are some who pass through the area from time to time. Fortunately, space organizations are careful about this. Before a ship is going to be sent to the underwater graveyard, a notice is sent out well in advance. This gives ship captains an idea of when it is safe to pass, and when it isn't. The spacecrafts that are under the waters of SPOUA were not taken there by ship or tanker. They are sent straight to the area from space. This should tell you that it isn't as easy as it may seem. The pilots who get these crafts to Earth first use the ship's remaining fuel supply. Next, they must steer the ships toward Earth's reentry point. When the crafts reach the Earth's atmosphere, there is dense gas, which causes a great deal of friction. Most of the ship disintegrates. The rest is buried under the water. To help you put things into perspective, the massive Mir station weighed 143-tons when it was launched. When it reached the water, it weighed just 25-tons. The Mir is just one of the spacecrafts that lie on the ocean floor. There are also six Salyut stations, the Russian Progress cargo craft, the Japanese H-II Transfer Vehicle, and the ESA's Jules Verne ATV. There is a reason that we don't simply blast these unnecessary spacecrafts out of the Earth's atmosphere. It takes a lot of fuel to get the ships into space. It would need much more to get them out of the Earth's atmosphere. Even if we had an unlimited supply of fuel, there is no guarantee that they wouldn't find their way back. SPOUA is the safer, more practical way to lay our spacecrafts to rest. Because SPOUA spans thousands of ocean miles, we don't need to worry about running out of space any time soon. We don't put ships under the water in this area on a daily basis; therefore, there is plenty of room. With all of the mysteries associated with space, it is nice to have at least one answer. You now know where the ships end up. It may sound strange to take ships from space and send them to one of the deepest areas of Earth, but it works. It is better than leaving them in space, hoping that they will stay there forever. Intentionally sending them down to Earth in a place that is rarely passed by humans is both the safest and most effective way to put these ships to rest. We don't know when the next ship will be laid to rest there, but we do know that it will happen again one day. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Subscribe to Facts Verse: http://bit.ly/FactsVerse ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our Social Media: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/factsverse/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/factsverse/ Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/factsverse6030/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For more videos and articles visit: http://www.factsverse.com

Train on Sea! RAMESWARAM PAMBAN BRIDGE!! Dangerous Railway Bridge!

05:33
Spectacular view of Train gliding over sea on the dangerous Rameswaram Pamban Bridge! Train accidents, Cyclonic storms, Ships colliding into the bridge, People falling from train into the sea, Mishaps, Disasters the PAMBAN BRIDGE has seen it all and is still going strong withstanding nature's fury, man made hazards for over 100 years! The Pamban Bridge truly is a marvel of Engineering and ingenuity. I was lucky enough to behold the beauty of India's first ever sea bridge over the weekend. Enjoy watching GOC WDM3A 16476R Diesel locomotive in charge of the 16779 Tirupati - Rameswaram Meenakshi Express carefully gliding over the 2.3 KM long cantilever bridge at a restricted speed of 15 kmph! The Pamban Bridge : ---------------------------- The Pamban Bridge is a cantilever railway bridge on the Palk Strait which connects the town of Rameswaram on Pamban Island to mainland India. The bridge refers to both the road bridge and the cantilever railway bridge, though primarily it means the latter. Opened in 1914, it was India's first sea bridge, and was the longest sea bridge in India till 2010. The rail bridge is for the most part, a conventional bridge resting on concrete piers, but has a double leaf bascule section midway, which can be raised to let ships and barges pass through. On 24 February 2014, the Pamban Bridge marked its 100th anniversary. The Rameswaram bridge aka Pamban bridge is 6,776 ft (2,365 m) long and was opened for traffic in 1914. The railroad bridge is a still-functioning double-leaf bascule bridge section that can be raised to let ships pass under the bridge. About 10 ships such as cargo carriers, coast guard ships, fishing vessels and oil tankers pass through the bridge every month. After completion of Pamban bridge, metre gauge lines were laid from Mandapam up to Pamban Station, from here the railway lines bifurcated into two directions one towards Rameshwaram about 6.25 miles (10.06 km) up and another branch line of 15 miles (24 km) terminating at Dhanushkodi. The section was opened to traffic in 1914. The bridge consist of 143 piers and the centre span is a Scherzer rolling type lift span. It's 220 ft (67 m) long and each of 100 tonnes. Pamban Bridge accident 1964 : ------------------------------------------- The 1964 Rameshwaram cyclone (also known as the Dhanushkodi cyclone) was regarded as one of the most powerful storms to ever strike Sri Lanka (known then as Ceylon) on record. Early on December 23, the storm struck Ceylon near Pamban Island with winds estimated at 240 kmph (150 mph), ranking it as a modern-day super cyclonic storm. At least 1,800 people lost their lives as a result of the cyclone. On December 23, an estimated 7.6 m (25 ft) storm surge struck the town of Dhanuskodi on the south eastern edge of the island, submerging the town and overturning the Pamban - Dhanuskodi passenger train killing all 150 passengers on board. The town, an important transit point between India and Ceylon, was completely destroyed and has not been rebuilt since. Thanks for watching! do subscribe to my channel for more train videos :)

Have you noticed this as well after the anniversary update they seem to have stopped? #SeaOfThieves #AnniversaryUpdate #BeMorePirate Going from the shared world adventure that Sea of Thieves has always been to a game that contains competition on demand in The Arena and rich story-led quests in Tall Tales requires incredible flexibility and willingness to adapt, learn new skills, and a mindset that embraces risk and taking on new challenges. For me, this embodies what Rare is as a studio, and what we'll always continue to be. I'm looking forward to playing the Anniversary Update out in the wild with you, experiencing the magical stories delivered as part of Tall Tales, and embracing my somewhat competitive side on the seas in The Arena. That's not even to mention The Hunter's Call, the fishing, the cooking, the harpoon, and the expanded ship damage system. This is such a rich update that makes Sea of Thieves a completely different experience, and it's going to be so exciting to see how it plays out.
