Tracking Drug Smugglers And Unauthorized Migrants With The Coast Guard In Miami

06:44
After spending time at Coast Guard boot camp, Senior Video Correspondent Graham Flanagan travelled to Miami to see how the Coast Guard combats drug smuggling and illegal immigration from the air and the sea.  In January, a Miami-based Coast Guard vessel was involved in the seizure of a boat carrying 132 pounds of cocaine. Earlier that month, a Miami-based Coast Guard airplane spotted a vessel carrying 35 migrants off the coast of Puerto Rico. Flanagan spent a day aboard the Coast Guard cutter Robert Yered, which patrols the Port of Miami and the surrounding region that includes the Florida Keys and the Bahamas. Flanagan experienced a ride-along on a high-speed, water-jet powered pursuit boat used to quickly engage vessels for boardings and routine inspections.  MORE MILITARY CONTENT: What It Takes To Survive Coast Guard Boot Camp https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jBtJet6kmZ0 What New Army Cadets Go Through On Their First Day At West Point https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ojJupoAyT58 ------------------------------------------------------ #CoastGuard #Miami #BusinessInsider Business Insider tells you all you need to know about business, finance, tech, retail, and more. Geo4NIEM Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA) (Vessel Position/Track)

05:26
Maritime Domain Awareness is an inter-agency and international effort to detect and prevent threats at sea or in any navigable waterway. The NIEM Vessel Position exchange from the Maritime Domain supports the effective understanding of anything associated with global maritime that could impact the United States' security, safety, economy, or environment. NIEM facilitates this understanding through effective, timely sharing of vital, secure information among many key partners by representing vessels, people, cargo, and maritime locations and activities. For more information on Geo4NIEM Maritime Domain Awareness, please visit NIEM.gov.

Global Ocean Commission - vessel ID and tracking

01:35
All vessels on the high seas should have to carry identification numbers and tracking systems, said the Global Ocean Commission at the conclusion of its meeting in New York. Currently, passenger ships and large merchant vessels have to carry unique and unchangeable International Maritime Organization (IMO) numbers, and use systems that track their path across the ocean. Commissioners said the loophole granted to other types of vessels presents a security threat. ID and tracking would also curb illegal fishing, and the trafficking of drugs, weapons and people. The UN Office on Drugs and Crime reported in 2011 that illegal fishing vessels are actively engaged in these activities. Co-chair José María Figueres explains the Commission's rationale.

Rolls-Royce | Future shore control centre

06:23
Rolls-Royce presents a vision of a future land-based control centre in which a small crew of 7 to 14 people monitor and control a fleet of remote controlled and autonomous vessels across the world. The crew uses interactive smart screens, voice recognition systems, holograms and surveillance drones to monitor what is happening both on board and around the ship. Remote and autonomous ships are one of three elements of the company’s innovative Ship Intelligence strategy, which will enable customers to transform their marine businesses by harnessing the power of big data. The film marks the final stage of research that will inform the design and construction of an effective remote operations centre which is essential to the company’s plans to develop autonomous and remote controlled vessels. The film is the latest in a series to present Rolls-Royce’s vision of future shipping known as the ‘oX’ operator experience concept and introduced in 2014. Previous studies have looked at the user experience of future command bridges on Platform Supply Vessels, container ships and tugs The research was undertaken by VTT and University of Tampere research centre TAUCHI (Tampere Unit for Computer Human Interaction) in collaboration with Rolls-Royce. It explored the lessons learned from other industries where remote operation is commonplace, such as aviation, energy, defence, and space exploration. 9 Strange Abandoned Ships and Planes

09:43
From ghost ships and deep ocean wrecks; to forgotten airplane locations; These are 9 Strange Abandoned Ships and Planes ! HEY YOU ! There are more awesome videos being made every week, like and subscribe to World Unearthed so you don't miss a beat ! 9. Lady Be Good 8.Lyubov Orlova Lyubov Orlova was named after the famous Russian actress by the same name. Built in 1976 by the USSR she served as an expedition cruise ship, traveling around the Arctic and Antarctica often. In 2010, Lyubov Orlova was seized at St. John’s Port, Newfoundland because of accrued debts amounting to 251 thousand dollars. It stayed at that Port for the next 2 years, and when it was being towed to the Dominican Republic to be scrapped, something happened. Not even 1 day into the journey, the tow lines broke and the ship drifted away… Incredibly, she was captured again by a Transport Canada tug boat and dragged away to international waters…. Where she was cut loose. The last time Lyubov Orlova was spotted was in 2013, near the coast of Iceland and Ireland. By the way, I foolishly tried to find her on the marinetraffic website, but then I decided to check out some other ships, and as it turns out, for the LOW LOW LOW price of $157/year you can pick your favorite ship and never miss a beat !... or if for some reason you want to act like a pro and track up to 50 ships in real time, it will be $9,000 a year. What a steal haha. 7. Kee Bird 6.TSS Duke of Lancaster The TSS stands for Twin-Screw Steamship or Steamer… meaning it has two screw propellers compared to a Single Screw steamer… which has one. The More you know ! From 1955 to 1979 the ship provided services for travelers around the United Kingdom until it was forever beached near Mostyn, North Wales. At this point; The Duke of Lancaster was branded as the “Fun Ship” becoming a tourist attraction, but local politics made it almost impossible for the owners to operate the business. 5.US Navy Vought F4U Corsair airplane 4.MS World Discoverer The World Discoverer was a cruise ship that operated from 1975 to 2000. Visiting such great spots as Antarctica, Argentina, Chile, and the Falkland Islands, the ship was loved by many… but on April 30th, 2000, the ship hit a huge uncharted rock near the Solomon Islands. All passengers were transported to safety while the Captain stayed on the ship, steering it into Roderick Bay. At that point, the ship was considered a loss… and to this day, the World Discoverer remains at the same location. It has become somewhat of a tourist destination, being visited by other cruise ships in the area…. Which is kind of unsettling. 3. Atka B-24D Liberator 2.S.S. America After its illustrious 54 year career, the S.S. America was being transported from Greece to Thailand to become a five star docked hotel ship. The journey began on New Years Eve 1993 and a few days later, during a massive storm, the tow ship Neftegaz 67 lost control of the cruise liner. The S.S. America, now renamed the American Star found its way to the coast of Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands and ran aground. Within 48 hours the harsh waves of the Atlantic Ocean split the ship in 2, she was declared a total loss and left to rot. At this point, there is almost nothing left from the ship, only a distant memory. 1.Murmansk The Cruiser Murmansk was built by the Soviet Union in 1955; and it served proudly until 1989. A few years later; the Russians decided to sell the cruiser to India for scrapping; during the move the ship ran aground near the Norwegian Coast. Shortly after; this haunting picture was taken, the ship looks like its in almost perfect condition; except for you know, being almost sideways...If only someone tugged on the big chain, it might have been an easy fix… or maybe thats not how this works. Anyway, No one wanted to deal with the clean up until 2009. Thats when everyone realized that due to the extremely harsh weather; the ship would have to be dismantled piece by piece. So thats what the Scandinavian contractor AF Decom did; in style. They built a dock around the ship and emptied out the water; this picture was taken during the process, you can see it that it REALLY was a team effort ! Don’t forget to tell me what you thought about this video in the comments below; subscribe for more awesome World Unearthed and check out the video coming up next !

5 AMAZING Ship Launch Videos

03:19
Ever wondered how ships are launched? Read our detailed article to find out http://www.engineeringworldchannel.com/ship-launching-explained/ About Ship Launch : Ship launching is the process of transferring a vessel to the water. It is a naval tradition in many cultures, dating back thousands of years. It has been observed as a public celebration and a solemn blessing. Ship launching imposes stresses on the ship not met during normal operation, in addition to the size and weight of the vessel, and it represents a considerable engineering challenge as well as a public spectacle. The process also involves many traditions intended to invite good luck, such as christening by breaking a sacrificial bottle of champagne over the bow as the ship is named aloud and launched. There are three principal methods of conveying a new ship from building site to water, only two of which are called "launching." The oldest, most familiar, and most widely used is the end-on launch, in which the vessel slides down an inclined slipway, usually stern first. With the side launch, the ship enters the water broadside. The third method is float-out, used for ships that are built in basins or dry docks and then floated by admitting water into the dock. In all cases, heavy chains are attached to the ship and the drag effect is used to slow the vessel once afloat, until tugboats can move the hull to a jetty for fitting out. ARTEMIS: infrared search and track system, your eyes on the sea - Thales

01:50
Naval commanders have to keep their eyes on the sea at all times to protect their vessels against a whole array of threats. They need to have a 360° view of their ship's surroundings day and night. In coastal waters, ARTEMIS supplements the capabilities of ship radar systems by detecting targets that radar has difficulty classifying, like fast-moving threats making use of coastline features for cover, and stealthy targets with a low radar cross-section. Ships equipped with ARTEMIS are able to detect this kind of threat faster, giving them extra time to initiate countermeasures and protect the platform and the fleet. Lost at sea: Ecological assessment around a sunken shipping container

04:13
Thousands of shipping containers are lost from cargo vessels each year. Many of these containers eventually sink to the deep seafloor. In 2004, researchers at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI) discovered a lost shipping container almost 1,300 meters (4,200 feet) below the surface of the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. In the first ever survey of its kind, researchers from MBARI and the Sanctuary recently described how deep-sea animal communities on and around the container differed from those in surrounding areas. The red dots seen in some of the underwater footage are lasers mounted on the remotely operated submersible. The lasers are 29 cm apart and allow the scientists to estimate animal size. Iran's Navy War Against US Has a Really Bad Track Record

11:12
Iran's Navy War Against US Has a Really Bad Track Record The Iranian navy announced it was sending two warships toward the U.S. East Coast. “This move has a message,” Adm. Afshin Rezayee Haddad said, adding that the deployment is “Iran’s response to Washington’s beefed up naval presence in the Persian Gulf. Haddad failed to mention that the two ships were a lightly armed tanker and a tiny, 45-year-old “destroyer”—neither of which would last long against the U.S. Coast Guard, to say nothing of the U.S. Navy. That destroyer, the British-built Sabalan, has encountered the Americans before. In 1988, Iran mined international waters in the Persian Gulf, leading to swift U.S. reprisal. Amid skirmishes, Sabalan fired on American A-6 bombers. The planes counterattacked, dropping a laser-guided bomb straight down Sabalan’s smoke stack and severely damaging the vessel. Iran’s ragtag navy has a long history of waging losing battles with the U.S. and other Western powers. And the most decisive battle of all for the Iranian fleet isn’t even being fought with missiles, guns and bombs. Source: http://bit.ly/2HmSWdV Rear Music:http://bit.ly/2JmnfU5

Thomas Trackmaster Boat & Sea Set Toy Review Gordon McFerryface Upgrade

30:30
Thomas The Tank is headed off Sodor Island in Big World Big Adventures movie. The Thomas Trackmaster Boat And Sea playset allows you to drift far away from Sodor Island as Thomas goes to the dock and engages with The Boat. This Trackmaster set features some unusual features, it has an exclusive Thomas with seagulls and a Boat thats looks more like a Ferry which can be powered through Thomas's wheels. There is specialized water track that The Boat can sail on but The Boat will not travel on Trackmaster railway track. If only this playset had the most important thing in the Thomas empire where characters and faces are applied to almost everything. Even if they are not part of the Sodor Island magic. The Fisher Price website explains the toy like this. This Thomas & Friends motorized toy train set takes Thomas from the tracks to the sea as he sails in a boat on a global adventure! All aboard for the Thomas & Friends TrackMaster Boat & Sea Set! Children's imaginations will set sail as Thomas journeys across international waters in this unique, motorized toy train set. Always up for an adventure, Thomas goes from racing around the train tracks on land to sailing across the sea in a ship. That's right – motorized Thomas will power the rocking toy boat, propelling it around the "watery" path from dock to dock. He'll bravely navigate the strong ocean waves from Brazil to China, where he'll safely return to the rails. Children's storytelling skills will come to life as they imagine thrilling tales of Thomas' journey – from speeding across the winding tracks to conquering the high seas. Adventure awaits, so anchors away! Thomas & Friends train set includes Thomas motorized toy train, rolling boat, standard TrackMaster train tracks, "water tracks" for the boat and two docks. Motorized Thomas powers the rolling ship around the "water" from dock to dock. Boat rocks back and forth as Thomas propels it forward, like a real ship on the ocean. Unique Thomas train features sea-themed designs. Thomas can also power the boat off the water track, on a hard, flat surface Web Links : http://www.thomasandfriends.com/usa/Thomas.mvc/Home http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_the_Tank_Engine https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toy_train https://fisher-price.mattel.com/shop/en-us/fp/thomas-friends-trackmaster/thomas-friends-trackmaster-boat-sea-set-fjk49

Ultimate Skeleton Ship Guide | Sea of Thieves

The ship shaped cloud in the sky shows the location of a skeleton crew. The cloud gets bigger the closer one gets to it. When the cloud is present, a crew can fight waves of skeleton ships. There are 5 waves, the first containing only one ship, and all of the ensuing with 2. On the final wave, one ship will contain a Skeleton Captain. The ship with the Skeleton Captain will give the best loot. After the treasure spawns, it is not marked in any way, so it is best to stay in the general vicinity of where the ship sunk. The payoff of the entire event is generally between 20k-30k. (S/O SoT wiki) SEA OF THIEVES Sea of Thieves is a pirate-themed action-adventure cooperative multiplayer game played from a first-person perspective. The game features cross-platform play between Windows-based personal computers and Xbox One video game consoles. A group of players travel and explore an open world via a pirate ship and assume different roles such as steering, hoisting sails, navigation, and firing cannons. Players embark on quests, collect loot and engage in combat with other players. Sea of Thieves is a shared game world, which means groups of players will encounter each other regularly throughout their adventures. The game has a cartoonish art style and an exaggerated physics engine that allow players to perform stunts, like being shot out of ship cannons. ★ I hope you enjoyed the video, if you did feel free to subscribe ★ OUTRO MUSIC Music Credit: Artificial.Music Track Name: "Herbal Tea" Music By: Artificial Music @ https://soundcloud.com/artificial-music License for commercial use: Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Unported (CC BY 3.0) License. #SeaOfThieves #BeMorePirate #SoT #Syn

ISS Benefits for Humanity: Found at Sea #ReelNasa

06:36
The Vessel-ID System investigation on the International Space Station demonstrated the ability for a space-based radio receiver to track a ship’s Automatic Identification System (AIS) signal, the marine equivalent of the air traffic control system. Since being turned on in 2010, Vessel-ID has been able to relay more than 400,000 ship position reports from more than 22,000 ships in a single day, proving a quantum leap in the ship tracking ability of coast guards around the world. This ability, coupled with multiple AIS tracking satellites launched since, is already making travel among the waves safer for thousands of ships around the globe. The ship identification and tracking system technology already aided in orienting rescue services for a lone survivor stranded in the North Sea, giving new hope to once impossible situations. 2. Sailing The Sea of Fear (full track) - 'Minor' - arsprovita.com

07:22
2 – SAILING THE SEA OF FEAR From 'Minor' by Ars Pro Vita © 2017 https://arsprovita.com https://arsprovita.bandcamp.com http://www.facebook.com/arsprovita --------------------------------------------------------------- Awaken by the whip on my back Pieces of my body spread in the air And the worst of all I see with my very eyes A man who is doing it to me We are given something to eat A mixture of rice, bugs and waste So bad it makes me miss my village And the loving hands of my wife I don’t know where I am I don’t know why this is happening to me I don’t know where I'm going Or if I’m going home someday I’m just sailing a sea of fear Chained to the boat oars I manage to save my strength While others will soon perish Shattered by the exhaustion The sores and the sun When a storm surges in the sky I see how the Sea Raptors Fear for their lives, exactly like me Flesh and bone, body and soul The roaring of the sea is loud and scary As our ship is thrown sideways by a child’s giant invisible hand In our ship One major mast is snapped like a twig And falls on deck killing several men Next to us As if swallowed by a monster’s throat Another ship disappears beneath the gigantic waves Fear pervades our souls Nobody talks, nobody moves For a moment I’m glad that my shackles protect me from falling But then I realize that If the ship sinks, I will sink with it As fast as it began the storm dissipates Small holes in the clouds show glimpses of the sun And hope begins to return to us all But right now, hope is still the least of my priorities I need a plan, a way out! No matter how hard it may seem --------------------------------------------------------------- Minor is about freedom and its absence. The scenery could take place today, but it was set at the time of free people, kidnappers, large wooden ships and total lack of the concept of human rights. Along the songs Minor tells about life, affection, fear, suffering and his quest in search to escape from slavery. Minor is timeless. Minor screams for an inherent value of life. Minor could be me, could be you, could be anyone. Minor wants to tell his story...so that it doesn't happen ever again. Ars Pro Vita. Art For Life.

How To Fix Ship Damage Guide | Anniversary Update | Sea of Thieves

Now in game not only do you get ship damage via the hull but now you also can damage the capstan, wheel & mast. This guide will show you exactly how to fix that. #BeMorePirate #SeaOfThieves #AnniversaryUpdate Going from the shared world adventure that Sea of Thieves has always been to a game that contains competition on demand in The Arena and rich story-led quests in Tall Tales requires incredible flexibility and willingness to adapt, learn new skills, and a mindset that embraces risk and taking on new challenges. For me, this embodies what Rare is as a studio, and what we'll always continue to be. I'm looking forward to playing the Anniversary Update out in the wild with you, experiencing the magical stories delivered as part of Tall Tales, and embracing my somewhat competitive side on the seas in The Arena. That's not even to mention The Hunter's Call, the fishing, the cooking, the harpoon, and the expanded ship damage system. This is such a rich update that makes Sea of Thieves a completely different experience, and it's going to be so exciting to see how it plays out.
