Solar panels at sea - unlimited energy without using land. SolarSea by Swimsol

01:19
#SolarSea is the world’s first #solar system that can float in the ocean. It enables massive power production without taking up precious land. Oceans cover 70% of our planet and using just a fraction of them for solar panels could double the amount of clean energy in the world. The technology is operational: several SolarSea platforms are already floating in the Maldives. Swimsol, the start-up who created this system, aims to bring solar energy to small islands and congested coastal cities around the world. It seeks to reach decision makers around the globe, and asks to share and take a step towards a world powered by clean energy! www.swimsol.com

Road Trip Adventures and a Solar Panel Project for out at Sea

05:46
DIY Pete is on a Road Trip traveling the country with a mission to meet amazing folks, see the country, and build a few projects along the way. In this video Pete meets up with a fellow DIY'er named Patrick. Patrick sailed his boat from Alaska to Bellingham, Washington and has a goal to sail all the way to Argentina at some point. Pat reached out because he needed help mounting a solar panel to his boat to so he could power his electronics while on the open sea. It was a lot of fun to hear Pat's sailing stories and to build a project out on a dock right on the Pacific Ocean in Bellingham, Washington. World’s First Hydrogen Boat - Energy Observer

03:51
This is the energy observer, the first autonomous hydrogen boat to sail the seas. Powered by solar, hydrogen, wind and water energy, the white catamaran will take six years to tour the world. During its stopovers, Energy Observer produced a total of 488 kg, almost ½ ton of hydrogen, during 1496 hours of functioning, that's an efficiency of 42%. Hydrogen supplied up to 60% of the energy needed for a typical voyage, and the remaining 40% was attributed to solar power, using a fuel cell functioning on average for 6 of each 24 hours of navigation, with an efficiency of 48% On the sides of the boat are The Oceanwings wings which are going to reduce the vessel's energy consumption, accelerate its speed, and above all, enable it to produce energy and hydrogen while navigating. The Oceanwings won't only serve as part of the rigging, they will actually increase the vessel's energy efficiency. Their installation on the vessel's two floaters will in fact allow it to: - Increase the speed, by complementing the electric motors - Reduce energy consumption when they are used to compensate the electric motors - Increase energy production during navigation by producing hydrokinetic energy (reversing the electronic motors into hydrogeneraters) - Produce hydrogen during navigation by the electrolysis of water Up until now, hydrogen production was only possible during stopovers, but the installation of Oceanwings® will make hydrogen production possible while the vessel is navigating. It will only be for 1 to 2 hours a day in the beginning, but introducing hydro-generation by inverting the electric motors is an indispensable power supplement in Northern Europe where the sunlight conditions are not as favorable. The installation of Oceanwings® on board Energy Observer is the first step to reducing the environmental impact of maritime transportation around the world. According to simulations carried out on a large range of boats, the results are extremely promising: from 18% to 42% less energy is required. An important statistic when one recognises that 90% of global commerce is transported at sea. Maritime transportation is also responsible for large quantities of air pollution, emitting into the atmosphere pollutants such as fine particles, nitrogen oxide (NOx), and sulfur oxide (SOx). Hydrogen is the most abundant chemical element in the universe. Inexhaustible, it displays exceptional energy density: it releases up to 4 times more energy than coal, 3 times more than diesel and 2.5 times more than natural gas. Its combustion emits neither greenhouse gases nor fine particles. Thus, Energy Observer is the first vessel in the world that is capable of producing its hydrogen on board using sea water, by electrolysis. Living on a Boat with Small Batteries (Our Electric / Solar Setup) - Sailing ShaggySeas

17:39
This week, we finally get our outboard working, leave Boot Key Harbor, enjoy a much-needed stay in a marina, and take the drone out for a spin! We can't wait to show you! Have you wondered how to live on a sailboat and cruise with a low / small battery capacity? Do you really need over 400amp hours (Ah) of battery capacity to cruise? How much solar do you really need for sailing? We are so excited to have created a bonus video for you all about our solar and electrical setup on our sailboat, SV Minnow! We have gotten several questions about our battery bank, solar panels, solar panel installation, and all about our electric setup. In this video we answer all these questions and more! We show you our electric setup including batteries, solar panels, inverter, refrigeration (or lack thereof), external battery banks, and solar lights. For more information about our sailboat’s electric setup, check out our blog post on on our website. Solar and Electrical Supplies We Use! Interstate Deep Cycle Group 27 Battery https://www.interstatebatteries.com/products/srm-27  We have three of these, two of which are used for our house batteries and the third is the emergency battery. Ocean Power Plant Generates Energy From Waves - Unlimited Cheap Clean Electricity

01:13
Unlimited Clean Energy with The Wavestar machine. Harness the Power of Wave Energy with the World’s Strongest Wave Power Concept. Oceans cover more than 70% of Earth’s surface and ocean waves carry enormous power. By utilizing the largest source of untapped clean energy, it could supply a substantial part of the world’s electricity. Wave energy is more predictable compared to wind power, the waves come and go slowly and can be forecasted 24 hours ahead. Also the production continues 6-8 hours after the wind settles. This makes wave energy an ideal complement for wind turbines and could satisfy the continuously increasing demand for renewable energy in the grid. The concept was invented by sailing enthusiasts Niels and Keld Hansen in 2000. The challenge was to create a regular output of energy from ocean swells and waves that are 5-10 seconds apart. This was achieved with a row of half-submerged buoys, which rise and fall in turn as the wave passes, forming the iconic part of Wavestar’s design. This allows energy to be continually produced despite waves being periodic. The machine’s unique storm protection system, one of the many patented aspects of the design, guarantees the machine’s sea survivability and represents a real milestone in the development of wave energy machines. Wave energy will play a crucial role in securing our energy future, but only machines that can withstand the strongest storms will survive. Environmental issues demand swift diversification to multiple renewable sources in order for us to fulfill our future energy needs. Wavestar will work in harmony with other clean energy methods to support the alternative energy movement and ensure a continuous supply of clean energy. Imagine what we can do together. A shortage of land has limited Singapore's adoption of solar power. But now they may have found a solution in ‘floatovoltaics’ – floating solar panels that can lie in reservoirs or other water bodies, running up to 10 percent more efficiently than those on land. The one-hectare test-bed now running in Singapore includes ABB solar inverter technology and can supply energy for up to 250 households. Ultra low drag hulls of solar PV panels powered electric catamaran at sea tests - www.t-car.top

01:06
See more cutting edge car innovation at: http://t-car.top Our vehicle concept includes, but is not limited to, a pre-displacement of the center of gravity of the car prior to entry into the corner. The undesirable inertia (the centrifugal force) that always "pushes" the car to the outer tangent of the corner. If the car pushed by the inertia goes out of the way - it is the incident that is often the end of a crash. Therefore, the goal is not only to produce the safest car but not to be more expensive than comparable cars and to be faster than both on a dry and slippery road. Traffic safety devices in modern cars include a wide array of advanced technologies like ABS, ASP, ESP, Traction Control, Airbags and so forth. But all of the above follow the events post-factum - after the incident occurs, when is too late and the protections are inefficient. According to our concept our vehicles overcome inertial centrifugal force by Dynamic Balance System DBS. It is unlike the conventional vehicles, which counteract the inertia in the curves only by the traction / friction of the wheels with the road. In addition – our car is passing turns smoothly and does not interfere with the comfort of the ride. At the same time, it allows for faster cornering under all conditions, compared to conventional vehicles. This action is thanks to the physical move of the car's body to the center of the curve. ADVANTAGES Making a car with the new Dynamic Balance System in curves requires a conceptually new solution. Blind follow-up to existing automotive architecture is a nuisance choice for new electric and hybrid cars. It is the world practice now. Friction of the car wheels with the asphalt, which is minimal in a slippery way, is not enough to hold the car on the road in the curves. The newly-patented kinematics mechanically equalizes the inertia in the curves under all road conditions. The lateral shift of the body - the chassis of the car is smooth and proportionate to the degree of steering. This is the natural stereotype of driving. Therefore, driving the car is in the way known before and no any new skills are requaired. For the newly-patented kinematics for lateral shift of the center of gravity of the car, a corresponding suspension system is needed. The new patented dampening system itself is widely applicable to all vehicles. It increases the full wheel contact with the road and at the same time reduces the energy / fuel consumption of the vehicle because the vehicles re stable on the move thanks to three-dimensional equalization of the car and less rely on the friction of the tires. A good friction in all cases increases the energy / fuel consumption. This is the inevitable conflict in conventional cars. Their increased road stability is at the expense of better traction (wheel-tire friction with the road), which increases the energy consumed to overcome it. The new 3D dampening system radically resolves the conflict because stability is achieved due to three-dimensional dampening rather than friction. See more E-car innovation at: http://t-car.top

Alternative power. Off the grid living. Solar Panels: Generating power while at sea or anchored out. Using my boat Angel as an example, this simple visual intro demonstrates a 12 volt DC marine solar power system (photovoltaics) in use. More tech. detail can be found in Southwinds Magazine, May 2011 issue. (free downloads at www.southwindsmagazine.com) The article explores common ?'s such as: How much power does your boat need, selecting solar panels, charge controllers & cost comparison to a fuel-based charging system. Note: these systems aren't perfect; a series of cloudy days will reduce those available amp hours from the battery bank. In long periods of cloudy weather, I run Angel's engine (under a load), its alternator keeping the batteries from getting too low. World's Largest Solar Plant Now Under Construction

The largest solar plant in the world is being built in Egypt. John Iadarola breaks it down on The Damage Report. Follow The Damage Report on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheDamageReportTYT/ Help build the Home of the Progressives http://tyt.com/JOIN Subscribe to The Damage Report YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/thedamagereport?sub_confirmation=1 Follow The Damage Report on Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheDamageReport Read more here: https://e360.yale.edu/digest/egypt-builds-worlds-largest-solar-plant-as-part-of-energy-transformation "The world’s largest solar energy farm is expected to be completed next year in the Egyptian desert, a showcase project that is part of an multinational effort to overhaul Egypt’s dilapidated electricity system with renewable energy projects. When it opens 400 miles south of Cairo in Egypt’s Western Desert, the $2.8-billion Benban complex is expected to generate 1.8-gigawatts of electricity, enough to power more than 1 million homes. With international help, the Egyptian government has set an ambitious goal of producing 42 percent of its electricity using renewable sources by 2025. Egypt currently generates more than 90 percent of its electricity from coal and natural gas, but the nation’s electricity generation remains spotty and its grid woefully outdated. The International Monetary Fund has been pushing reforms to the country’s energy system aimed at scaling back fossil fuel subsidies and attracting international solar, wind, and nuclear energy companies to lessen the nation’s reliance on fossil fuels. Last week, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Sisi inaugurated several big electricity projects, including the expansion of massive wind farms on the Gulf of Suez and Red Sea. Russia has promised to help fund and build a $21-billion nuclear power plant on Egypt’s North Coast." #TheDamageReport #JohnIadarola #TYTNetwork

Bedini SSG Lidmotor -- At Sea On A Sailboat

01:46
My Bedini SSG went to sea on my 32ft sailboat to help charge batteries. It worked along with solar panels to supply electrical charging needs while at anchorage at Catalina island. The small device was run during the day using a 2watt solar panel. It charges a 12v battery or a pack of 8 AA rechargable flashlight batteries. It was not used to prove anything but simply that it can be used in a practical way on a boat to charge batteries. It works.

Solar Panels for your home Cardiff By The Sea California

00:45
Solar Panels for your home in Cardiff By The Sea California Solar Panels: http://TrustedSolarPanel.com/CardiffByTheSeaCalifornia How To Save Money With Solar Energy Nowadays, more and more people have been using solar energy for both their homes and businesses. It may even be something you are interested in. However, before you make the decision of whether or not to use solar energy, there are some things you need to know. This article will provide you with this knowledge. If you don't want to or can't go for full solar power, at least consider a solar water heating system. Many regional and community governments offer financial incentives, rebates and tax credits for even doing this, just like they do for full solar installations. Check with your local government before doing anything to know the perks. Find a reputable company. With the rapidly rising popularity of solar energy, new companies are springing up left and right to take advantage. A solar energy installation is a big purchase that should last you many years. When shopping for your system, look for a company that you can be confident will still be around ten or even twenty years from now. Take the time to compare different types of solar panels before you invest in a green energy system. There are different technologies and brands to compare and it is true that the most expensive panels are often the most efficient ones. Talk with vendors and professionals to learn more about solar panels. Don't cheap out on the installation! Yes, you've spent a lot of hard earned cash on these solar panels, but that's the point entirely. You've made a huge investment, and you'll want these panels to be secured perfectly. If you opt for someone with less experience or a spotty track record to save a bit of cash, then you'll likely have lots of issues in the future. You need to find an efficient way to finance your solar panels. Most homeowners borrow some money from their financial institution so they can cover the initial costs and then pay this money back in small monthly payments. You can even set the monthly payments so they correspond to your usual energy bills in order to keep a balanced budget. Be sure to account for maintenance and upkeep costs when figuring out the costs of a solar energy system. While solar energy has the potential for a lot of savings, it greatly depends on your location. Solar power is not right for every situation, and even has the possibility of costing you more money in the long run. Regardless of the solar energy system you choose, it's important that the panels always face towards the sun. You get the energy from the sun, so it's important for the panels to be located in an area where they can get all the solar energy possible. Make sure you have realistic expectations about your water heater system that uses solar power. The best solar water-heating systems are only a fraction as effective as the best electric systems, but having said that, they do save you money. Remember that a morning shower doesn't mean you'll be using frigid water. The water that was heated the day before will stay toasty overnight. Experiment with various angles and placements, monitoring the power stored on a daily basis and making changes as necessary. Any angle might be acceptable, but there are times when a small tweak in the position can have a noticeable impact. Try different options and stick with the spot that works best. In conclusion, many people these days provide their home or business with solar power, something you may be interested in. There are some things you need to know about before you choose to use solar power, though. The above article has given you the knowledge you need to make this tough decision. Now, all you need to do is put this knowledge to good use. Amazoncom Sunnytech Solar Power Pond Oxygenator Air Pump Oxygen Pool Aquarium Fish Tank Sea Fishing

03:26
This is a handy little pump to have on hand. The only downfall of this was that there were no instructions in the box, but it's not hard to figure out, especially if you have aquariums! Yes, this is made for a pond, but these are my reasons for getting this! ►Great for rehoming fish, or if you have to rehome yourself! and you have fish, you can take this in the car with you! Clip it to a bucket handle and you are all set to go! ►Great for if you have to put in new substrate and your fish need to be in a bucket for a little while. ►Great for power outages!!! This works really well, I was surprised at how much air this puts out. Watch my video and I demonstrate it in a tank, and you can see some of our fish, too! Also, you can hear how quiet this is, very quiet! This is a solid purchase for any aquarium owner to have, you never know when the power will go out! We live in the country and a few years ago it went out for 3 days because of a storm, we didn't have fish then, though...but you never know!! I did receive a sample of this product for testing and review purposes and I highly recommend this product!! If you have a need for this, whether it be for keeping fish/bait alive while fishing, ponds, aquariums, or any other aquatic pet that could benefit from this, buy this, you won't be sorry...but you will be if something comes up and you think "man, I really could have used a solar air pump right now!" http://goo.gl/c8dQBW

ENGINE TROUBLE AT SEA - Relying on the Free Power of the Wind [Ep. 21]

24:29
ENGINE TROUBLE AT SEA - RELYING ON THE FREE POWER OF THE WIND - EPISODE 21 What do you do when the engine breaks down with no land in sight and 600 nautical miles to go? Find out how we discovered a crack in the casing of our heat exchanger and then couldn’t use the engine for eight days. On this 1,058 nautical mile passage from the Canaries to Cape Verde, we manually steered during the day and then used a portable generator to charge the batteries so we could run the auto pilot at night. Fortunately, we were traveling in a sailboat and not a motor boat, so we could rely on solar and wind power, and of course, the free power of the wind. We are Maik and Michelle, two sailors from different worlds and different cultures with very different perspectives about sailing around the world together on our 43-foot, steel ketch, Seefalke. We also have different levels of sailing experience. Maik (a German) has sailed for more than 20 years, while Michelle (an American) has only been sailing five years. A federally funded research effort to revolutionize water treatment has yielded an off-grid technology that uses energy from sunlight alone to turn salt water into fresh drinking water. The desalination system, which uses a combination of membrane distillation technology and light-harvesting nanophotonics, is the first major innovation from the Center for Nanotechnology Enabled Water Treatment (NEWT), a multi-institutional engineering research center based at Rice University.
