This video shows me making a Pistol Magazine Rack for my gun cabinet. I am placing this rack on the inside of one of my cabinet doors. I am using wood, felt and leather to make it. Like, Share and Subscribe to be notified when more videos come out on this channel.

Really nice work. To save some money, you could have shaved the hair from your arms and used that instead of felt.
Rock Dog (5 months ago)
MosinVirus LOL!! I’m right there with ya, Brother!! Seriously, nice job on the mag racks.
MosinVirus (5 months ago)
But then my arms would be cold..
Nope Grigsby (1 year ago)
nice collection but thats not very secure a burglar could get to those with a hatchet
Nope Grigsby (1 year ago)
But if I had it I would have them all labelled cuz I'm dumb :'o
Nope Grigsby (1 year ago)
MosinVirus looks real accessible and convenient the leather also looks really fancy :D
MosinVirus (1 year ago)
Nope Grigsby in any case, what did you think of the mag storage idea?
Nope Grigsby (1 year ago)
MosinVirus :o
MosinVirus (1 year ago)
Nope Grigsby Sure, in a way. Even a safe has to be properly bolted down to prevent theft. I have seen many stories of safes being ripped out with studs.

I like it! Awesome job!
MosinVirus (1 year ago)
Weary Traveler thank you. the best way is to create long pockets. that way the most magazine space is created

Looks great!!
MosinVirus (4 years ago)
+finlandiabeach Thank you. I really like how it turned out, but now I know that having one long pocket per row would have been better.

There is still acid in vegetable tanning. There has to be to keep the leather from rotting. ( think of the acidity of tomato) just because it is organic doesn't mean that there isn't natural acids. But it still looks great!!
MosinVirus (4 years ago)
Thank you. Really good to know.
Scott Bradley (4 years ago)
Very nice job! As another already pointed out, I would suggest using some sort of "fo" leather. Tanned leather is called that because they use tannic acid. The acid though mild will always be present in the leather and will with time cause metal mags to rust. This is the same reason you never leave a gun stored in a leather holster for long periods of time. But I absolutely love the build. From a guy that does finish work for a living, you did a great job!
MosinVirus (4 years ago)
Thank you. I am using veg tanned leather though. I thought it wasn't a problem with vegetable tanned leather.

Really nice but it looks like a lot of work . Im gonna do something nice but a little more simple. Great job though
MosinVirus (4 years ago)
Sure thing. I was simply showing my idea. Thank you for watching.
MosinVirus (4 years ago)
+GlockmanGG you are right, but I never intended to build a safe. I intended to build a cabinet.
MosinVirus (3 years ago)
+Jeffrey Schmidt I always buy from tandy leather factory.
Jeffrey Schmidt (3 years ago)
Any recommendations for a source for the leather?
MosinVirus (3 years ago)
+Jeffrey Schmidt Sorry, I didn't keep anything. Meant for this to be an idea sharing video.
Jeffrey Schmidt (3 years ago)
Do you have a materials list for this project? I'd really like to try it!
GlockmanGG (4 years ago)
Wood is pretty , you'll lose them when someone breaks into your home , for some meth money !!
GlockmanGG (4 years ago)
Looks nice , the gun storage is wood , mine is thick steel with a safe type lock on it , I put mine extra magazines in a plastic box , leather will make them rust 😬 Ditch the wood box put your wife's shoes in it and get a steel fire rated safe !! Later Dude

Lots of hard work, but man does that look great!
MosinVirus (4 years ago)
+Alan Wilson Now that I know how it worked out, I would recommend doing just one long pocket per shelf. You will lose a lot of space by simply separating pockets.
Alan Wilson (4 years ago)
I'm working on a gun storage closet and I honestly love this idea.  Very nicely done!

Great job and a great idea!!!!   Looks good
RobWhittlestone (5 years ago)
Excellent ideas and work with different materials! Well done! Do you do this kind of work professionally? You have a fantastic collection and now a great way to store it all! All the best, Rob
RobWhittlestone (5 years ago)
+MosinVirus Indeed! What better than to be paid for doing what you love! May I ask where you come from - do I occasionally detect a very very slight Dutch accent? All the best, Rob
MosinVirus (5 years ago)
Thank you. I do not do this professionally, but I do intend on making this as well as gunsmithing my profession. That way I would try to make money while doing what I absolutely love.

i am a carpenter and love doing custom cabinets and trim work your video was the best i have seen because i also am a gun and ammo nut i have been collecting for many years and i am now with my wifes aproval building my 400 sguare foot gun/safe room so i can keep my collection safe but enjoy them when i am inside and your video has given me many great idears so thank for your video and your skills
MosinVirus (5 years ago)
Thank you for watching and kind words. I wish I had 400 square feet to dedicate to this hobby. You should put up some videos when finished. I am sure it will be great to see. Custom stuff always looks better because it is made for the space.

propdoctor21564 (5 years ago)
Very nice !!  Love your gun cabinet too
MosinVirus (5 years ago)
Thank you so much for watching and commenting. I keep finding ways to "expand" the cabinet. I am actually going to convert the side section to have more rifle racks soon. I have 5 rifles just sitting there loose. So, when that section turns into a rifle section, why wouldn't I also put more handguns on the door? But don't tell my wife about that idea.
Steve CUDDZILLA (5 years ago)
Wow! Impressive. I love that whole cabinet design! VERY nice work!!!
MosinVirus (5 years ago)
Thank you so much for watching and for the kind words.
