hello sir. when we use -order by gender. How it will recognise which one to display first male or female?
Shivam Sehgal (1 year ago)
It will recognize by alphabetic order. So, f comes first before m, therefore it will display female first.

what if we have DID DNAME LOCATION d1 sales blr d1 sales hyd d2 production delhi in this case how can we apply distinct keyword on DID and LOCATION on same time, because LOCATION for d1 is blr and hyd but DID for both is same. please explain .............
Shivam Sehgal (1 year ago)
Both are different, Here, in your example, one d1 is relating to blr and another one is relating to hyd, so thats y the O/P would be same

hey Professor , I think the right syntax for distinct is : SELECT DISTINCT column1, column2, ... FROM table_name; no parenthesis . :)
suhasbn belur (2 years ago)
Ramesh sir , if i put the distinct on multiple columns duplicate elimination is not working i am using select DISTINCT RSRC_TYP_NM,ENTRPRS_FAC_ID from rsrvbl_rsrc ; here RSRC_TYP_NM has duplicate data if i run the this query its displaying duplicate data
Mohamd zouin (1 year ago)
here is the solution select distinct entrprs_fac_id , rscr_typ from your table ; in this order i will display unique second column . hope it works
Kishan jaiswal (1 year ago)
try to put the column names in small bracket like (col1,col2...colN)
